CBS' Playlist Too Tight? You Be The Judge

yes.com needs to reset the stats of the station for the ranks to still work right. It still has Jack's Rankings on them now

Likewise, when you punch in WCBS, the tagline is still "Playing what we want". I'm sure after a full week passes, things should be normal.

I'm impressed... 20 hours since the flip (commercial free) and only a few repeats. The station sounds good - a nice mix from the 60's through the 80's.

It certainly is

Beach Boys, Beatles, 60's, Motown, Soundtrack Songs, AOR. No New York hits that I can think of.

"Hit Me With Your Best Shot" in the morning show? Not unless you're a music-intensive rock station.

CBS-FM sounded Oldies in its first hour, Classic Rock last night and Classic Rock this morning. Go all over the place and the competition can eat you for lunch.

You can almost see how much it differs from Jack by taking advantage of the way yes.com is presently ranking the songs. It looked like for the first few hours that cbsfm was on the air, each song did have a ranking - they were being played on Jack at one point or another. Now, many songs have "no ranking", so they haven't been on recently... new cbsfm or Jack... so, it looks like they're definitely throwing in some different songs now... not exactly Jack minus the new wave, etc...

Not necessarily -- the website must have updated its ranking overnight. Yesterday, almost every song had no ranking. I printed out the first hour of CBS-FM from YES yesterday, and only five out of the fourteen songs played in the first hour had ranks.

CBS-FM really is quite different from JACK.

Where are your song titles?

That'll truly tell you if you're sounding fresh or playing burned-out stuff.

Pull up the WABC Music Power Survey -- it emphasized song titles, not artists. Pull up a Boss 30 from 93/KHJ -- it emphasized song titles, not artists.
