TODAY ON THE INTERNET CBS RADIO FIRES DON IMUS BECAUSE BAD COMMENTS ABOUT THE RUTGERS WOMAN BASKETBALL TEAM.

Leslie Moonves say from CBS Corporation after fires Don Imus

"Those who have spoken with us the last few days
represent people of goodwill from all segments of our society -- all races,
economic groups, men and women alike. In our meetings with concerned
groups, there has been much discussion of the effect language like this has
on our young people, particularly young women of color trying to make their
way in this society. That consideration has weighed most heavily on our
minds as we made our decision, as have the many emails, phone calls and
personal discussions we have had with our colleagues across the CBS
Corporation and our many other constituencies."
Imus in the Morning was carried on 61 stations across the United States
and distributed over the Westwood One radio network. The cancellation of
the program comes after statements Mr. Imus made about the young women who
comprised the Rutgers University Women's Basketball team, which reached the
finals of the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship this spring.
Moonves concluded: "I want to thank all those who came to see us to
express their views. We are now presented with a significant opportunity to
expand on our record on issues of diversity, race and gender. We intend to
seize that opportunity as we move forward together."

That is the end of Don Imus 39-years Radio Career.

KXAM Independent 1310 AM need to find a new morning show to replace Don Imus or just sell paid program on the station.

A total joke.

I would have fired Don Imus years ago for poor ratings, but not for this incident, I've heard far worse things uttered on airwaves in Phoenix. Imus is a lame "talent" and barely intelligible with his mumbling nonsense, but I just find it incredibly humorous that it took several days for there to be any reaction to Imus' comments in the first place, then CBS never thought to fire Imus until they felt pressure. This situation reminds me of Beau Duran from KUPD. He made a phone call to Flynn Kile--the widow of St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Darryl Kile--during the NLDS asking her to go out on a date and saying she looked "hot", and you would have thought he was part of the holocaust the way the media carried on with the story. He was initially suspended by KUPD, but then days later they decided to fire him after pressure from the "public". There wasn't any conviction or backbone in the radio industry then and apparently there still isn't any today.

A group of people that never even heard of Don Imus are suddenly holding press conferences where they turn on the waterworks and claim these comments ruined their season. Whatever happened to sticks and stones and all that? The further invasion of political correctness and the wussification of society continues unabated.

Well 1310 can plug Dennis Miller in Live or possibly do a Adam Carolla and plug in an hour of yesterday show and his show live from 7-10am.

Dennis Miller live for all 3 hours would be great!

Something to listen to on the drive to work.
