CBS Radio=Hypocrites?

I have been thinking about this since Russ was popped by the Southlake police and something at CBS doesn't add up.

Why did CBS fire Imus almost immediately for not committing or being accused of a crime but Russ is being kept around while he is under investigation for a crime?

In my opinion, Russ should at least be suspended and his show should be removed from the air until the criminal part of his current issue is resolved. If I was CBS Radio, I would do all I can to separate my company from a bad situation. Playing the 'best of' RMS is not helping Russ with his case nor is it helping the CBS image. After listening to most of the 'Best of' they are playing, it mostly involves drugs and disrespecting women. This is not helping.

CBS has so much programming right now they could easily make Russ disappear until all is resolved.

5am-1030am - Jagger
1030am-3pm - Corolla
3pm-7pm - Opie and Anthony or BDH or O'Malley
7pm-10pm - Leykis

Please discuss.

That's a good point. Calling a woman (girl??) a name is apparently worse than being accused of beating one up? What's wrong with this picture?

Do you really need a picture painted here? I can sum the Imus firing up in 5 words. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. Those two half-wits have been sullying Dr. King's legacy for 40 years now. What're they gonna complain about if Obama gets elected?

Of course Jackson's already insinuating that Obama's nothing more than an Uncle Tom so I imagine we'll get to hear that for four years.

In regards to best-ofs running while a radio show is off the air pending investigation: When the aforementioned Opie & Anthony were in the news because of the "Sex for Sam" contest involving a major New York City church, best-ofs aired for about another week until the show was officiall cancelled.

They didn't fire him right away, they took him off the air, then the lawyers had to decide if they could fire him.... Same thing here.. But, one difference, they had the audio of what Imus said, They do not know yet if Russ will be found guilty, It is possible (But I doubt it) that he didn't do anything and the girl made it up... What happens if they fire him and then they find out he didn't do it? He will take them to court and get ton-o-money.

I think allowing him back on air is their way to get rid of him. Russ doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut, I am betting he has a long list of things not to discuss (either from his lawyer, CBS or both)....with the way he is, he probably won't make it an hour on the air. That will give CBS bonafide reason to can him without saying it has anything to do with the charges. They will probably put Gavin in charge of him...that way they can kill two birds with one stone

Imus sued CBS radio too and it ended in an undisclosed settlement.

However, in Russ' case, (I have heard) that he has a morals clauses in his contract and since a crime is a morals issue then a firing is needed if he is found guilty.
Until the court case is finalized he needs to be removed from the the air to protect the CBS image and give the prosecutor less evidence against Russ. Before you say "his radio life is different from real life", think about the number of people that cannot tell the difference between an actor acting and the way the person is in his/her personal life or those who think that if a wrestler is a jerk on TV then that same person is a jerk in real life.

Also, the way Russ talks about disrespecting women and abusing people and drugs all the time on the air almost gives a person the feeling that a part of his real life self is not somehow not put into his radio personality.

If advertisers start pulling dollars off the Russ Cluster, CBS will move very quickly to distance
itself from anything Russ.

I think you also have to consider the fact that what Imus did was on the air and directly related to his show. In essence, he used his position at CBS to make his crude (yet, to me, not suspension-worthy) "offensive" comments for all to hear.

As bad as what Russ allegedly did is, he wasn't on the air and it wasn't a part of his show. It was something in his personal life. So it's not quite so simple. Even if there were audio of it, again, it's not like he did it on the air or even for his show. But, if he did it, gets convicted, even pleads, then for sure they are done with him.

imho the decision will be a simple one for cbs. Will it cost more to keep him or fire him? Get the answer to that, and you will know what happens to Russ.

It looks like the advertisers are starting to drop them. Majestic Liquors has pulled it ad off of Russ's site.

Also it looks like Renaissance Hair, Dukes and 1-800 the dogs have pulled their ads off 105.3..

Time is running out

Also, under service link...there is a disclaimer that I do not recall seeing before..."the following are not advertisers but have contributed to the foundation"
