CBS Radio Network News

Now that 540 WFLA (WFLF) dropped CBS radio network news because of Clear Channel's relationship with FOX Radio News. What station is picking up CBS Radio Network News in Central Florida?

Actually, while they have started taking Fox news, they're also continuing their affiliation with CBS. You'll hear news product from both networks on their airwaves.

It is true, I did hear a CBS sound bite and Fox sound bite during a 540 WFLF news break. Even though I will miss CBS radio news on the hour at least we get to hear a little CBS on the 50000 watt flame thrower.

CBS Radio News got killed in Florida by many stations when they dropped the Dan Rather Anchored ones and eventually dropped them all together.

A handful of stations -- none in Florida IIRC -- canceled their CBS affiliations as a "stunt" to garner conservative cred after the Bush documents affair. Among them WNIS Norfolk and KPRC Houston.

As someone else pointed out on this thread, WFLF still keeps a stealth affiliation with CBS, as apparently many other ostensibly "Fox News" affiliates do. That strikes me as tacit admission that the Fox News Radio product alone simply is not of sufficient quantity or quality to sustain a talk station with a significant "news" branding.
