CBS Radio - network resurgance?

Just finished reading Moonves' optimistic outlook concerning
the new ``nimble'' CBS Radio Group (as posted on R&R Online).

So...what's ahead for the CBS Radio network side?

You might recall in the late 80's, there was a substantial
upgrade of its affiliates. IIRC, they snagged stations like
WHAS [again], WOAI, KTRH, KLBJ, WHAM, WBEN and such (some
of which were once NBC).

In the post-Telecom era, the network lost a number of big
affiliates with the rise of Clear Channel and the move to
ABC Radio for a number of those facilities.

Now that the landscape has changed again (read Citadel and
the reorganization/rebranding of CBS), do you think we'll
see any growth and improvements with CBS Radio network?

ABC (Disney) will continue to produce ABC news for distribution by Citadel for at least ten years. I don't look for a mass defection to CBS radio for that reason.

I don't know about a mass defection, but it is my understanding that CBS has become more aggressive in its pursuit of affiliates lately.

Good. It seems like CBS Radio has been lagging behind the likes of ABC, CNN, Fox News, USA Radio, et. al. for far too long. Maybe the new outlook will change things some.
