CBS Radio selling stations?

There's a thread on the New york radio board about CBS looking to sell some of their stations. Hartford was on the potential list. I really hope they don't unload the Hartford cluster. Case in point:

CBS would be absolutely downright foolish to sell of their Hartford cluster. They own WRCH-FM 100.5 of New Britain/Hartford, a.k.a. Lite 100.5, which is nearly always the top-rated station in the market. WZMX-FM 93.7 of Hartford became HOT 93.7, giving Hartford the hip hop/R&B station on FM it was craving, since we only had a 5,000 watt AM filling the void as JAMZ 910 (which was quite good, to be honest). WTIC-AM 1080 of Hartford is the only 50,000 watt clear channel station on the entire Boston Red Sox network. People in other states rely on that fact at night. Lastly, WTIC-FM 96.5 of Hartford, a.k.a. 96.5-TIC, does well as a HOT AC station. Granted, I still wish they were in their heyday as CHR/TOP 40 96 TIC-FM (it changed to HOT AC in 1994). Their station led the ratings for several years.

One of the industry analysts shows that revenues in Hartford have been declining for about 5 years, and it will not be until 1012 that revenues get back to 2003 levels. That's a good market to get out of.

The Decline and Fall of the Radio Empire

I wonder how many markets - especially in the Northeast - have experienced "about 5 years" of declining revenues. According to the RAB, radio revenues in general have shown little or no growth from 2003-2007, and revenues are off nearly 6% through June of this year.

We're also talking revenues, not profits. With all the cuts and "restructuring", costs have been "adjusted" as well.

Granted, CBS may have been harder hit than some other groups thanks to the leadership of Joel Hollander.
