CBS radio sf websites

For radio market number 4, these are like the worst websites for a big radio market, all other cbs radio's websites look better than ours

I don't know about the local CBS music stations, but I checked out KCBS's website, then compared it to sister news stations KNX and KFWB. They have the same look, and all the same features. Seems decent enough to me.

The biggest problem that I've found with radio and television station websites is the absolute jam-packing of everything that you can fit in there: ads, photos from events, widgets for this, players for that, a newsfeed here, traffic there, weather over here, more ads, download the latest ringtones here, our morning guy's blog over there, more ads, join our listener's club, listen to the other seven stations we own...

(Deep breath...)

And you know it was started with good intentions, but then someone from sales said "we promised this client an ad at the top of the page," and the boss said "corporate insists we put the 'HD Radio Is The Greatest Thing EVER' module at top of the page," and the news director said "we need to get the latest celebrity headlines on there -- it'll drive traffic to us," and the promotions director said "we've got to get our next event up at the top of the page"...

And then the whole thing looks like a convoluted mess.

They all look alike because they all use the same CMS (content management system). Very little local control over "look and feel". It's the cheapest way to get a site up and running, and it can be administered by people with basicaly zero web skills.

But BossRadioDJ is right: the net effect is usually a crowded mess. Does anyone ever look at Google? Or Yahoo? White space, people. It's a good thing.
