CBS Renews "How I Met Your Mother" For Two More Years

I kind of agree with Gregg75. I am not a regular viewer of the show but the few episodes I've watched remind me of Seinfeld - not particularly funny and not particularly interesting.

The show had an interesting premise but didn't appear to follow through. Perhaps the lack of acting ability by Harris is one reason.

HIMYM as a whole can be a difficult show to just jump into anywhere along the way. Many of the gags are callbacks to previous episodes even seasons apart. It's one of the charms of the show in how the creators keep the timeline and clues accurate to the narrator's story (even if he does get unreliable sometimes).

That being said, the show has been losing some steam and I think 2 more seasons will just cause the writers to further delay the payoff to what has been a drawn out ordeal all ready; Finding out who the mother is. That may turn people off.

I watch the show, and it's maintained much of its self-contained humor--Neil Patrick Harris and Jason Segel make that show. That could be part of the problem, though--the show is built around Josh Radnor's character finally revealing who the 'mother' is. There have been so many failed relationships in Ted Mosby's storyline life to the point that failure seems intentional (especially after being left at the alter by Sarah Chalke, who's now holding down another CBS sitcom), and everyone else's stories have felt more interesting by default.

Aside from the writers' failure to make Ben Vereen Barney's biological dad, the eventual reveal of the mother's identity is bound to be a letdown anyway. :D

Let's try running yet another sitcom into the ground. How long till this show turns into HOW I
BURRIED YOUR MOTHER?
I don't like the show and only watched the Britney Spears episodes--she was so cute--but what will eventually happen is those kids will no longer be in the future.
