CBS Scraps "CSI: Miami" Due To Late, Late NFL Game

Due to the final late game (Chiefs/Raiders) going into overtime and ending just after 8 PM ET, CBS is airing only the first three hours of its primetime lineup. They showed a chyron after 8 PM with no reference to "CSI: Miami" which normally airs at 10 PM. So it's just "60 Minutes," "The Amazing Race" and "Undercover Boss" - at least on the East Coast.

It would have been interesting if the game ended about 10 minutes short of 8 PM... would have been the latest late news ever.

There's a KOA 1978 weekend open referencing their "11:00 Weekend Report"...how was that possible?

Will CBS still feed the western United States four hours of primetime? Don't know if anybody's scrambling to fill 9pm yet...

Was CSI Miami going to be a first run or a repeat?
CTV Canada is scheduled to air CSI at ten pm
They are NOT airing the game.
They aired Undercover boss at 7pm, Amazing race at 8, Desperate housewives airs at 9pm
and they WILL be airing CSI Miami at 10pm

If it's an all new episode, I fail to understand how Canada is allowed to get ahead of the States.

Here on the West Coast, our local CBS O/O, KPIX, has "The Fifth Quarter" until the top of the hour (6pm) Then it is back to regular programming. I saw that graphic also, and noticed CSI: Miami was not listed. Maybe CBS will show back to back episodes of '$h!& My Dad Says'

IIRC, the last time CBS had an NFL overrun of such magnitude (until 8 PM ET or later),
they also dumped the scheduled 10 PM ET show for Eastern/Central stations.

To the usually-forgotten/ignored/receiver of table scraps/whatever Mountain Time Zone,
they fed a repeat episode of the pre-empted show, which--again IIRC--was sent down
the primary ET/CT sat channel right after they "signed off" at 11-something PM ET,
assuming the net is normally dark late Sunday evenings.

At approx. 9:06 PM MT on KPHO-TV Phoenix (after Boss), it was indeed a CSI repeat as
filler for Mountain zone stations. Guessing it will also run at 10 PM PT on the left coast.

Also of note was that the internal breaks were all local spots. Probably covered network
PSAs/promos and may have been make-goods from KPHO's pre-empted 5 PM newscast.

I believe KCBS/CBS 2 down here in LA is currently airing the new CSI: Miami, according to the Time Warner guide which does say "new". Not to mention they're airing those national "CBS Cares" commercials/promos.

ARE THEY TRYING TO KILL CSI MIAMI...

Yes,it was a new show....says my dvr...After undercover boss, after promo's all night about CSI Miami, even after undercover it went to ch 2 news ny...at first i thought it was a ch 2 doing it..so i called my contact at WFTS CBS CH 10 IN ST. PETE FL. and he said it was the network....
If they didn't go to the 2nd. game that went into overtime everything would have been about 10 mins late...
If you read the Daily News, they have top 20 ratings every week, two weeks ago it was
# 6 60 Mins
# 17 Undercover
# 20 Graet Race
CSI MIAMI AND CSI NEW YORK ARE NO SHOWS SINCE THE FALL MOVE..

For those of you claiming it was new have you watched it yet to make sure? And for those with DVR or cable boxes that say it was new I wouldn't trust the listings until I saw the episode. I've had Tivo push a couple of late breaking schedule changes to my box but those are far and few between. Most times the listings are put together days or weeks in advance and I think there is no way that they will change in a matter of a couple hours for only half on the country.

DVRs/guides wouldn't have picked up the last-minute swap to a rerun.

CBS is hardly trying to kill the show. They'll simply adjust the schedule and in the end get more viewers than they would have airing the show at 11 at night for half of the country. Nothing terribly unusual about the scenario, it's happened before.

I believe you speak of WTSP (WFTS is the ABC station in Tampa)...

When will CBS learn to adjust their prime time schedule?, they need to take a page out of Fox and only do 8
until 11pm ET Sunday during football season.

When does CBS plan to air this episode of CSI Miami? Next Sunday and just push the schdedule up? I thought it was going to still air right after Undercover Boss as in the end credits for Undercover Boss the graphic above the credits said NEXT On CBS - CSI Miami. Local news only started 5 mins late after 11pm.

Those closing credits/promo combinations are probably pre-produced with the program entity
on the playback server. It's doubtful CBS could call in the necessary production crew to re-do
the credits piece on such short notice...not to mention the overtime.

Det. Frank Tripp: Horatio, our new episode of CSI: Miami wasn't show last night because of the NFL.

Lt. Horatio Caine: Well Frank, it looks like our show **puts on sunglasses** went to Sudden Death.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!

My affiliate said the 11:00 news would air after "Undercover Boss". I got to see the whole thing without benefit of tape or TiVo AFTER "Desperate Housewives". I had Andy Rooney, or would have, on TiVo in the show's slot. I knew this would happen because the game wasn't even over when "America's Funniest Home Vidos" ended.

I have a couple of questions. Last week I missed "Undercover Boss" because the affiliate I taped Andy Rooney from had him at the normal time. The affiliate from which TiVo taped the show, however, had 20 minutes of "The Amazing Race". So what happened? Did this same situation occur anywhere in the East last night, and if so, what did they show at 10?

The exact nature of my situation last week is covered here.
