CBS selling WPB Cluster?

TamiamiSammy said:
Has anyone heard definitely that CBS is selling West Palm stations as part of
their 50-station divestiture announced yesterday? Even their press release does
not give specifics:

50 mid-sized markets sure sounds like WPB might be included.

CBS said that they were selling as many as 50 stations. They are not even in 50 markets.

Many believe they will sell some clusters, but mostly defective stations. As a start, there are 15 AMs billing less than $7 million that look ripe for sale. There are also some really small or bad markets like Victor Valley, Riverside/San Berdoo and Palm Springs that are naturals for spinning, too. Beyond that, it's anyone's guess but I think many will be AM stations since there is no growth there anywhere and the formats CBS has are very expensive.

Yes, I meant 50 stations. If you look over their list, it is easy to spot the stations that will likely go.
Tough time to be selling stations, though. But I guess CBS just wants to get them off their bottom
line, and is not too concerned about the multiple.

Some months ago I was travelling down the turnpike and noticed that WQOL and WOLL were actually shadowcasting each other. Pretty creative. The sweepers, etc. were different, but the playlists were identical.

Also wonder how quickly we will hear something different on WCZR (from WZZR) since technically now it is owned by a different entity?

To repeat my original question, what about the CBS stations in WPB?
Anybody got any "inside" information? I hear that stations being put on the market
are learning about it during staff meetings.

No sales are likely going to be announced in advance outside of those on a need-to-know basis.

Not sure about that this time.

KDKA staffers were told, point-blank, they are being put up for sale.
