CBS SELLS W.P.B. CLUSTER

It *could* depend on the format, as well. Spanish 92.3 & 95.7 are in the 50k-max club, and as long as it reaches the pockets of the metro where Spanish is dominant, they are fine with it, I would think. (95.7 downgraded from the big stick in Princeton @ 100k to one in another area.)

However, these stations don't exactly "boom" in Broward.

Miami-Ft. Lauderdale as one market matters in ratings/advertising.

I'd say 100k (or near that) is needed to cover both counties well. Am I right?

Height and location are first and foremost.
10Kw on a kilofoot county-line stick would do finely.

I am 5'9". Does that help? ;)

Does it REALLY matter? C1, C0? Hell, 50k on a nice stick would be fine here in South Florida

YES, it REALLY matters! Although a class A, C3 or C2 will give some market coverage, for stronger building penetration and better full metro coverage, a full C or C0 at a minimum 1,000 feet with 100kw is what it will take to accomplish that very important objective in the Miami-Dade / Fort Lauderdale radio market, especially when you are competing directly against 16 commercial full market class C, C0 and C1 FMs all operating with 100kw with a minimal comparable signal. To do otherwise, you are guaranteeing second rate coverage over the total market area.

Well said, as usual, Dr. Tillery! I stated, more or less, the same thing in reply to FLjack2's comment several posts ago, but in a milder way. I guess you've got to be blunt these days to get your point across! Yes, the major players need the best possible signal they can get to insure their product can be heard clearly over the entire Miami-Ft. Lauderdale radio market! :)

The point I was making was/is that even with a weaker signal, but one that covers the area, being number seven in Miami is no less profitable than leading the pack in WPB.

IIRC (unsure) they moved down a channel from 104½ the same time they moved from what would become the country K stick to where they are now. So, who can suggest a reason why CBS never attempted to change their COL and crack into the Miami market?

The #7 station in Miami bills almost twice as much as the #1 station in WPB.

The other board reports that on June 1, the following will happen:

WIRK to 103.1.
WEAT-FM to 107.9
WRMF stays at 97.9 and WMBX stays on 102.3.

104.3 and WHFS 106.3 gets sold off. 104.3 possibly gets moved to Miami.

Hmmmm, verrrrrry interesting.

So there are indeed new owners for these? Will those above which have run HD and HD2's continue to do so? Will 104.3/106.3 be briefly off the air? (asks this DXer)

interesting.. speculation as to who may or could aquire 104.3? if indeed it comes to miami.

CC- i beleive they cant own anymore miami stations they are at their limit and so is Cox.
that leaves Beasley Broadcasting and lincoln financial both i belive own three in this area and are able to own one more if im not mistaken... any takers ?

btw does anybody know if WEAT will move from their current tower or downgrade since WIRK at 107.9 is significantly only for WPB and does not reach miami, unlike 104.3 wich can be heard up to the upper keys

^ This could be a condundrmumun ( :D ) for the little WORZ-LP which has been running on 104.3 outta the Ocean Reef Yacht Club in north Key Largo ( www.keysfm.com )

Despite speculation about 104.3 being moved to Dade County, I still cannot understand why this is one of the signals being sold. 103.1 and 102.3 are weak in southern Palm Beach County. Why wouldn't Goodman want to keep the best signals?

David Gleason, aka DavidEduardo said it best a few comments ago:

The Number 7 station in Miami bills twice as much as the Number 1 station in West Palm Beach.

Doubt Lincoln wants it, unless they use it as a 790 simulcast and put WQAM out of business permanently. Cox has their hands full cherrypicking LFM talent and getting their house in order. CC is over their limit and even if they wanted WIOD on FM, they just dumped Super X for the phoenix that is WSHE as a Jack clone.

Maybe Goodman sells 106.3, and moves 104.3 to Miami and keeps it for himself. Different market, no ownership cap to worry about (yet...unless he's in a buying mood).....

Never mind...didn't see all the recent posts :(
