CBS shakes up another Austin station

Just days after the Majic 95.5 lineup was turned upside down, CBS is making changes at Mix 94.7. MD and afternoon drive jock Carrie Benjamin is gone after 7 years. (R&R reports the departure, but has no word on a new home for her.) Clay Culver returns to Mix in the 10a-2p spot Bridget Taylor occupied, and Bridget slides into Carrie's spot. She also gets a sidekick ... Carey Edwards from 106.9 The Point in Houston. Carey has worked in Austin before, so this is a homecoming of sorts. Strange times at CBS Radio ...

And it's the same dreary programming, the same commercial overload, and I'll bet you can't tell the new voices from the old ones. More of the same all the way around.

They. Just. Don't. Get. It.

I'm entirely unimpressed with both Mix and Majic. They are poorly programmed, and the jocks are uninspiring. I would love to see what these either of these stations would do if a good AC or Hot AC moved into the market. My guess is that both would die a slow death.

Make that a quick death.

There's a good reason that the Best Buys in Austin completely ran out of Sirius equipment just after Christmas....and it wasn't Howard Stern, who has never made a ripple here.

Just look at the cars as you drive around Austin and count the satellite antennas! In another thread here it was noted that a number of Austin stations are "slipping", and that something might be amiss with Arbitron.

There's nothing amiss with Arbitron. With the exception of KUT and the nonprofits, there's absolutely nothing to recommend on the FM side of Austin radio right now, and the AM side is growing stale as well.

So many freqs....and nothing to listen to, except satellite! :(
