CBS... Shaking up the market?!

Ok since Maria will be coming back to houston on mix and who knows who the co-host will be. Could this mean mix is gearing up to tweek their music and go more CHR to compete against KRBE. After all Roula and Ryan did leave mix(didn't they) to take Maria and atoms job at KRBE back in 05. Now we know CBS has Hot 95.7 to do this already and might I say doing a very good job at beating the hell outta KRBE. If this is the case where does this leave HOT???? They often lean rhythmic anyways. Could they go completely rhythmic to compete with KBXX??? Heard they beat them in a recent book. Just s random market questions? I could be wrong but somethings brewing in the market.

I think mix is staying right were it is

They need to do something with KLOL it has so much potential but they arent doing anything with it

Yeah, by having Hot and Mix, CBS has KRBE in the squeeze position musically. Maria and whomever will have a tough time making any serious inroads against Roula & Ryan though. One thing CBS has NOT done with Hot (or Mix since they owned it) is anything close to making their morning "show" competitive. So now, they are at least attempting (as only CBS can attempt) to create something with Maria in mornings. Hard to figure their marketing scheme though. If Maria is the lead player, it doesn't matter who the sidekick is. So why the drama when it may very well be a 'who cares'? Now if Maria is the sidekick, and they're teasing a well known lead talent, the drama would make some sense. Either way, it's CBS! You really can't count on them making strategic or tactical sense.

Yeah youre right, CBS isnt doing anything with KLOL. All they are doing is beating Univisions KAMA station in ratings. Not like it matters to you beating Univisions ratings on a format doesnt matter. RIGHT?? ::)

In the last weekly, the 18-49 (and 18-49 is everything in Hispanic buys) the spread is less than a half of a share point... so considering the immense signal difference, saying that KLOL is winning is not that easy.

CBS should give KLOL an enema and put on active rock.

haha i think that would be CBS's smartest move they have ever made in a long time.....but most likely not going to happen sadly :'(

How do the other CBS Mega stations in Chicago and Dallas compare to the Univision stations in those markets using a similar format??

Mega in Chicago is not a CBS station; it is owned by Clear Channel.

Mega in Dallas is KMVK. The numbers are on this site. It is beaten by two of Univision's stations and two of Liberman's, and tied with a third LBI station.

OK RUMORMILL!!! up to you to believe but I did hear that KLOL will flip to something in 10months.

CBS has a (can't change formats) for 24 months clause with CC (whom they bought it from)

if this is true. what month did CBS purchase KLOL?

This is doubtful. CBS would not make an investment of such magnitude and be restricted in such a manner.

They should flip KLOL to hip hop, go head to head with the box, give them some comp.

Believe me.. One hip hop station is enough for one market.
Ok thats just my opinion.

Understandable, but when that only hip-hop station becomes more and more boring throughout time due to lack of competition, it's not enough.

How about NO hip-hop? Then no one would be bored.

NO hip-hop in maket #6??? That would make things worse, not better. Unfortunatly one would say something like that because of their probable dislike for the genre of music, making their comment bias, and to some people, ignorant.
