CBS Sports FM... What about SD?

CBS is about to launch its 15th sports station on FM in Cleveland. San Diego has 2 sports stations, but none on FM. Could CBS be looking to punt soon?

Thoughts?

Hard to imagine, since San Diego is just not a sports town compared so many midwest and east coast cities. In those areas where the weather is always too hot or too cold to go outdoors, there is a sports mania you hardly see amongst San Diegans.

Not a Sports town?
So a town with the Chargers, Padres, Aztecs, high school football, Angles and Dodgers and Clippers and Lakers to the north, plus two sports stations, Xtra and XXsports, is not a sports town?

Really?

Really!

Not a loyal team backer either. Fans wear their original home team colors before locals. I was in a sea of Dodger Blue on Mon/Tue. When Cards or cubs are in town, surrounded by their fans.

There are three sports stations in town and combined are a blip in the radar. AM1700 ESPN. XX1090, and XTRA Sports 1360.

Why muddy the water with a fourth station. There are more important things to worry about.

The Aztecs have sports teams? Are their games open to the public, does anyone go to them? Have you ever spent a fall weekend in any midwest city? The college and pro sports fans in those areas are rabid in their devotion and the closest thing I have seen in San Diego was back in the days when the Oakland Raider were tough and mean and you saw more silver and black at than blue and gold when the Chargers hosted the Raiders.

This is very much not a sports town. Heck even LA has no NFL team and the truth is most of the population could care less. Minnesota beats the Dodgers and Angels in average game attendance and the have a metro population of 3.2 million compared to over 15 million for the Los Angeles area. St Louis also beats the Dodgers in attendance and they have less than three million.

The Bay Area just launched 95.7 The Game not long ago.
