CBS Sports network in Cent.Pa?

now that CBS radio has announced a new CBS Sports talk radio network starting in January with Cumulus as it's distributor...will any of the Cumulus stations in Central Pa be fliped to the new network, and if so why one? I am guessing it will be AM910.

Already posted elsewhere that 1400 and 95.3 in Harrisburg will drop ESPN and put this on.
1440 in York is a likely candidate.

910 will remain talk..with one possibility:

...if they were to put SBA's format on FM..say dump WINK 103...then I could see 910 flip to sports.

Since Cumulus is the CBS Sports Net distributor, it would make sense for 1400/1440 to carry. Beyond that, I would expect 1460 (and maybe 1350 and 1600) to go ESPN. 910 won't flip from talk.

ESPN has gotten VERY EXPENSIVE. Over the past year, stations in small markets have drooped it in droves.

Gosh I hope ESPN ends up back on 1350...great signal during the day. ESPN is still THE brand to have if your going to be "all sports talk"/ the others are only "brand X".

ESPN won't go on a station within 35 miles (as the crow flies) of another ESPN affiliate. If "the mother ship" stays on 1440, then 1350 will not get it back and subsequently 1600 will not get it since they are tied together.

And by the way, ESPN will not budge on this. They don't care if a station's signal can't be heard 33-1/2 miles away from their affiliate. It's gotta be 35 miles.

Haven't seen a list with 1440 flipping to CBS Sports net, although Cumulus keeping ESPN 1440 would be a great way to keep ESPN in Harrisburg-York-Lancaster (if the 35 mile rule prevails). With the Premier Networks distribution, CC Harrisburg (1460) might stick with FSR anyway.

Trust me..ESPN will YANK the affiliation away from 1440. Why in the world would they allow a station owned by a now competing network keep it's programming on a low powered AM station. Not going to happen. 1350 and 1490 in Lancaster are both in a good position to end up as ESPN affiliates if they want it.

IF 1350 would get ESPN, they would simulcast it on 1600 which would keep 1490 from getting it. Likewise if 1490 would get it...that would keep 1350/1600 from getting ESPN.

Trust me folks....ESPN only looks at the 35 mile radius. They do not look at signal strength or anything else. I've been down this road twice with them.

Right 1350/1600 would keep it off of 1490. Still I think there's a good chance one or the other will end up as affiliates. Take 1440 out of the equation, along with 1400 in Harrisburg, then you have room for a new affiliate.
