From DCRTV.com..........

1580 To Carry CBS Sports Net - 1/22 - CBS Radio is dropping the business/government news format on 1580 AM, which has been known as WNEW-AM, to put the new CBS Sports Radio on fulltime in the DC market, starting January 28th. The sports radio network was launched on January 2 and it is currently carried on-air in Baltimore, via 1300 AM. The new 1580 will be a companion to CBS's DC sports talk WJFK, 106.7 The Fan. CBS Sports Radio is also currently heard on a digital subchannel of 106.7. The new 1580 will carry the Super Bowl on February 3rd.....

This move means Scott Ferrall will once again be broadcasting on WNEW. ;D

Three listeners? I thought the station was automated. With nobody minding the board that would mean there were only 2 listeners. ;)

I suppose that would make sense; in nearby Baltimore, the WJZ calls are on the local FM sports talker as well as the CBSSR station there on AM - which used to bear the WJFK-AM callsign for many years...

Good, I haven't listened to 1580AM since it was urban gospel, so when they bounced that companion format to WPGC then they lost a listener in me. I would rather hear sports on that frequency rather than the dribble that has been on there since then...

I'm thinking that with the issues WNEW has in NOVA, 106.7 is the signal to put WNEW on in VA. 99.1 and 106.7 and then put the sports format on 1580. CBS has made a major investment in WNEW and JFK has had issues of their own. CBS in NYC puts the Yankees on WCBS, an all newser so it's not crazy that NEW could run the Nats as well as news. It would build much needed cume and exposure for NEW which it truly needs.
