CBS Sports Radio

I don't know who was hosting tonight (approximately 11PM ET Saturday), but that was some of the worst sports radio I've ever heard from a national network. The host, during an NFL segment, asked a caller (who was from Tennessee, IIRC) "which NFL team do most people in Tennessee cheer for?". Seriously. (The caller answered "The Colts", BTW) After the call, he admitted his faux pas that he "should have known that there's an NFL team in Tennessee" as his producer/screener chimed in with this bit of knowledge: "Yeah. It was an expansion team."

I had to flip to music. That was some of the dumbest **** I had ever heard.

Perhaps stupid on the surface, but for years there were many Falcon fans there before the Titans. Given how the Titans closed the season, you could get many different responses. Just because you have a home team doesnt guarantee loyalty. Ask and 1980s-early 90s Tampa Bay Buc player that question. The Packers, Bills, Bears and Lions would have been answers before the Bucs.

I agree, to an extent. I grew up 45 minutes from Foxboro as a Packers fan. I just thought the question, on its face, was dumb. Then the producer made it worse. I guess he never heard of the Tennessee Oilers (97-98). I guess I expect too much.

Outside of Nashville, very few people in Tennessee care about the Titans. East Tennessee was Colts country until this year because of Peyton Manning. West Tennessee hates the Titans for picking Nashville over Memphis.

Interesting. Every time I went to Knoxville during football season, I saw plenty of Titans gear, yet it was dominated in volume by Vols gear especially on Saturdays.

I've lived here my whole life, and I can't name 5 people I know that would call themselves Titans fans. We generally don't hate them like the people in West TN seem to. They certainly have a lock on the mid-state when they're winning, but Knoxville, Chattanooga and Memphis have less than a passing interest. I know the CBS affiliate here has tried several times to get the secondary market designation removed because of low ratings for Titans games and viewer complaints about not being able to see the main CBS game.

I'll defer to your experience. I've only visited Knoxville about a dozen times, so my sample is far less than yours. It was great info though. I appreciate the knowledge.
