The best thing that could happen for the Fan is to move to 98.5 on a bettter signal and move the classic rock to 92.3. Don't see that happening until they get one of the major franchises though.
Ken Carman is the real unsung star of the station. Good show, good opinions whether you agree or disagree and he brings a fire that is sorely missing from 10am-2pm. As I stated before if you had someone like Les Levine or Dennis Manoloff in that slot it would help the station. Baskin and Phelps are just too boring and was not a good fit to put against Rizzo from 10am-1pm.
Why would moving the station to 98.5 help the situation at all? To me that only makes a rough situation worse for CBS. The Fan is going to have to show it can have success on 92.3 before CBS even thinks about moving it to a bigger stick. CBS looks smart right now for not putting The Fan on 98.5 out of the box and blowing up NCX....CBS looks not so smart right now for doing zero promotion and filling time slots with underwhelming shows. Now I'm hearing hosts on the air trying to sell spots for the holiday season....not sure I've ever heard that on a station before. Strange.
