CBS Sports Stations Overnights

Why does CBS Radio use both Yahoo! Sports and FOX Sports for overnight programming on some of their sports stations? I could see them just using one instead of both. And that one would be Yahoo! Sports. One because CBS and Yahoo! have a streaming deal and also "The Tim Brando Show" which is simulicast on CBS Sports Network.

When "Sports Hub 98.5" in Boston started out (three years ago) They started with (Back then) it was "Sporting News Radio" on overnights, and (different times on weekends and overnights on weekends)
About Three-Four Months after they started, they changed to "Fox Sports Radio" which is currently on now overnights, and (different times on weekends and weekend overnights)
I like both "Yahoo Sports Radio" and "Fox Sports Radio" Both sound very simular

WKRK "92.3 The Fan" here runs FSR overnights.

There have been rumors that CBS would launch an in-house national overnight sports show for its stations, much like they did on the talk side with the KMOX/St. Louis-based Jon Grayson, but those rumors have died down for now.

I don't think the Brando/YSR deal necessarily means a greater role for YSR on CBS sports stations.

According to yahoosportsradio.com 93.7 The Fan, WIP Philly, WFAN 660, 670 The Score, 97.1 The Score, 106.7 The Fan Washington D.C., WJZ Baltimore all use Yahoo! Sports Radio

According to foxsportsradio.com 98.5 The Sports Hub Boston, 106.7 The Fan Washington D.C., 105.3 The Fan Dallas, TX, 92.3 The Fan Cleveland all use FOX Sports Radio

so most CBS Sports Stations use Yahoo! Sports

So?

7 vs. 4. Really 6 vs. 4, as I don't believe WFAN actually runs any YSR live programming.

What I was saying is that I don't believe the Brando/YSR deal will lead to any major affiliation changes. The Fan here took FSR after that deal had already started.

I don't think it will change anything either.

And also I was surprised to see WFAN on the list as they have a live person on overnights in their studio.

Even here in Cleveland, The Fan locally only runs FSR after midnight 7 days a week... there's a local show Tues-Friday until midnight, and the WW1 and Compass college games on Saturday and the WW1 Sunday/Monday Night Football contracts run past midnight.

WFAN's been live and local, 24/7, ever since they launched in July of 1987. (Yes, Imus was syndicated on WW1, but that's a whole other animal.)

They had a minimal ESPN affiliation (basically, one or two hours of "Gamenight," if THAT) during the mid-90s, prior to Disney/ABC purchasing WEPN as the network flagship. Their only carriage of FSR was back in 2002, when "Mike and the Mad Dog" did an FSR-only show from the WFAN studios on Saturday mornings... but nothing else since then.

And WSCR's affiliation with Yahoo Sports is very minimal now; only just a few late-night hours on the weekends. They did offer YSR and Dan Patrick in overnights, but re-hired Les Grobstein back in 2009.

I should point out: 106.7 the Fan in DC uses Fox Sports Radio from 12a-5a nightly, Saturday mornings, and Sundays when the Redskins play. IIRC, they did use Sporting News Radio in the beginning.

ESPN Radio is on the DC market on the Redskins O&O'd peashooters and several suburban stations.
