CBS stations in Memphis are for sale

As for Rockin Rick, I don't even have the plus part of $100 million, no matter how small the plus is. How are you buddy?Delta King is right...$100 mil plus with FM 100 the main prize. And, that has to be, as he said, an outrageous amount of money for anyone to consider. I'm not in any of the three stations' demos, so I don't know what they are doing that explains the continuing drop in ratings for all of them. The never ending change of Ops/PD's can't help. As for 790, sports didn't have a chance because of the less than aggressive attempt to market and sell the format. Just my opinion. I still have dear friends in the building, albeit most of them on the tv side...so I wish them well. I think CBS may have no choice but to keep them.

That being said, $100,000,000+ is a HUGE number. A broker friend of mine (who STILL has not recieved prospectus on the CBS properties...this will take forever), said that he's all but convinced that CBS won't get a buyer for ANY of their markets, and that they're under no pressure to get rid of any of them in short order.
I don't know that I'd ever bet on that. It's not everyday that a chance to grab some pretty large market properties, all rather successful, comes up. However, I would agree that it could take quite awhile to unload the CBS properties presently listed as for sale, and I wouldn't look for them to come down in price much, if at all, at least in the near future. I also wouldn't be surprised to see some swapping take place. Something that seems possible would be Entercom swapping Denver to CBS for Memphis, Austin, and Columbus, or something of the like. Of course, that's just speculation on my part, but that's all we can do unless we have tons of money floating around, which we don't because we come from the on-air side! ;D
