It's sad to see what has happened to some of the former cbs-fm staff. (due to the unprofessional treatment from cbs one year ago) The suits who did it will pay---- sooner or later! I have no doubt. It's called karma!
 
I'm confused...who on the old WCBS-FM staff had something truly adverse happen to them because of the change at this station?

At the very least, it has spread all of that good talent out to many other stations, who will both make it worthwhile for those folks to continue their craft, not to mention giving exposure to the next generation of jocks and bringing in $$$ for the owners who have hired them.

Even Cousin Brucie is now available to MANY more people than he ever was on WCBS-FM, and has no complaints about where he is right now.

CBS-FM suits did much more dunderheaded things than let the staff go, and the loss of ratings and profitability triggered by their actions will bode more ill for them than firing their over-priced, aging talent ever would.

When CBS is offering a whole 21K for a JACK promotions assistant in NEW YORK CITY, one would think they are better off being unemployed.

I'm in NYC. Enlighten me. It seems the only person who is still out of work is Dolenz, and he's got Monkee money to fall back on.

Now, are you speaking from an inside perspective? Perhaps some of the air-staff opted out to do something else in life. It's not unheard of.

Now. If the internal office staff at Jack got cleared out, then I could see the problem. But people lose jobs in radio all the time. Whether it's format changes, conduct, or performance.

Now, are you speaking as an "insider", or are you speaking as a bitter CBS-FM fan? It would seem from the tone of the first post, it would be the latter. What's wrong, Jack is starting to trend up and you can't stand it?

I was sad that CBS was blown up. But I got over it. Satellite radio is fun.

That's a lot different than being in dire employment straits. They are working in radio.

So you mean to tell me you've talked to EVERYONE who got let go at CBS, and they are ALL unhappy? I find that hard to believe.

You know, your original post would be funnier if you say it with a deep timbre and shake your fist at the end. Maybe a cackling, menacing laugh.

Face it. Crap happens in radio. Could be market 1 or 250. The majority of jocks got jobs still in the business, which speaks volumes about them and their skills.

Before you badmouth the CBS suits, realize that radio is an incredibly strange business. For all you know, in a month, CBS-FM could be back to playing oldies. It's a pipedream, I know, but who would have thought O&A would be on in 10+ markets a year ago?

Wishing bad things would happen to a person are just as karmatic damning as those bad things that happened in the first place.
 
In response to Mr. Smith's attitude and response above..."Spoken Like A True Suit"!!! I'm sure you'll step on who(m)/whatever in order to climb up in or out of WGSR someday...you tipify exactly what is wrong with our industry...and in fact, as a mirror of society...our "big business" attitude as a country as well!!! Jeeze...and I thought it was just us greedy self-involved-centered New Yawkerzz!!!

Over-priced aging talent? Geeze Matt that's a little harsh isn't it? None of us are getting any younger! As for overpriced I have seen more overpriced management than overpriced talent. You also need to consider the cost of living in the greater NYC area.
 
cbs could do a lot for their image and karma by keeping oldies on cbs-fm-hd2 AND hiring jocks. (but I'm not sure some former cbs-fm jocks would want to return there.)

I think more people are listening to the CBS jocks at their new jobs than ever would on HD-2 in the next few years.
