CBS Tampa

I heard that Don "I don't know" Howe reigned his position as Market Manager last Tuesday. Whoever takes over will be a huge improvement.

If so, I am sure many from inside the bldg are looking for the chance to go up the ladder. Sadly, that might not happen. If you look at other markets, they will bring someone from out of state. Ouch!

I don't know who is running things over there but whoever it is might want to check their commercial log. This weekend i heard a commercial for the don henley concert four times on Q105.......the concert was friday night.

It's not a mistake ... they do run commercials "after the fact" to make those who didn't go feel guilty of missing such a great event. It's called "get your tickets on time next time around".

Really? Commercials after the fact to guilt people into not missing the next big event? I don't believe I have ever heard a radio notion so silly, and that is saying somthing in this crazy business.

It used to be done for cheapness. The spot would be cut once. If it was a week end, the spot would be written to say "Friday through Sunday". The same spot would air on Sunday afternoon.
The advertiser did not want to pay for multiple cuts.

On Monday, the cart would have to be removed, and replaced with an updated copy. The ball would be dropped by the week end guys who didn't get the new copy (or didn't notice the run date while they were on the phone with their new girlfriend) so they would play the old one until the new one
was put in (or noticed).

"get your tickets next time around"..funny....stupid and typically Tampa if thats the case. I can't honestly think someone in management would allow that....then again.

When I was PD at smaller stations, we didn't charge extra for customized spots, though we did go for a longer deal. It was no big thing to use the "this weekend, today and tomorrow, today only" method, as our timely spots attracted more business and put us a step ahead of the "get yours next time around" stations.....

There is a perception of sloppiness. Since radio is mostly perception, ...

Tell me ONE station that charges extra for recording multiple copies of commercials? Come on, Jeff. NOBODY charges extra. If you want to give your opinion, at least do it with facts. They might charge extra on TV to film a different spot, but they don't charge extra in radio to record multiple commercials.
