Any inside scoop or ideas of any kind about what he will change first in the CBS/Tampa cluster? One has to assume that he will do something with PLAY. It seems to me that the Hot flip took away all of the little bit of wind it had in its sail. Will he tinker with Wild? The only stations that appear to be doing anything in that cluster from a ratings perspective are the two Q's: RBQ and QYK. What will he do to fight for more realestate in the top 10 for at least one more of the CBS stations? Inquiring minds want to know.

Scenario #1: Good company man, asked to transfer to Tampa, perhaps his aging mother lives in St. Pete.

Scenario #2: Who did he p*&$ off to get bumped from Market #1 to #18???

I am trying to be humorous, not snarky ;D
Personally, I say welcome to Tampa and best of luck.

Tampa is a market of high concern for CBS right now. Look at this as bringing in a big gun to fix it.

100% correct. Hence the reason for bringing Ben Hill in from West Palm prior to them announcing the sale, Bob Neumann heading to Houston and now this. Methinks PLAY will see a flip in the next several weeks.

Rumour time! Da, do,do,do,do,do,da, do, do, do, di, do, Rumour time!

How about 1010 to 98.7, since there is no traction for the format on the 50,000,000mw AM.

And they make a bid for the Rays - bitter since they let the Bucs go.

CBS is having a lot of success with FM sports, but the product would have to be 100 times better than it has ever been on 1010.

Another problem is that 98.7 isn't an adequate signal in Hillsborough for a flagship station. Maybe with a 1010 simulcast, but I think that would be a tough sell.

1010 is already on FM as an HD-3 of 99.5.

Not that anybody else noticed.

Brian is a great guy, likeable and obviously a proven winner. I worked for him many years ago at Nationwide Communications (BJ 105/Mix 105.1) in Orlando. He was honest, fair and hard working. We had a great product and he made sure we weren't complacent.

Welcome back to Florida, good luck.

Heard a lot of great stuff about Brian. He also "gets it". Because.this is CBS and Dan Mason seems to understand the topical/local cosmetic of each station..K-Earth sounds like Los Angeles..WCBS-FM sounds like New York..WOGL sounds like Philly..WODS has a definate Boston "vibe"...and in Phoenix KOOL-FM sounds like desert/Arizona. I am proud to be the imaging voice for them! They are, many times number one in the market. And the stations all bill very well as a result. How hard is this for station owners to "get". I'm betting Brian will hold Q-105 to its Tampa Bay "feel" and how I would love to be their voice! In any case this should be a great move for both the gentleman and the corporation.

I agree with Jeff. CBS seems to know how to program classic hits/oldies. "play" is hyping itself as live and local at the top of the hour. Maybe CBS is holding on to Hot AC with the possibility that WFLA takes 97.9 and Rock goes to 100.7?
