I thought they did this some time possibly in the 90's or early 2000's, although I don't remember if the quality was good or not. Some TV purists probably won't like this.
Broadcasting the original versions of "The 'I Love Lucy' Christmas Show" and "Lucy's Italian Movie" would be better for everyone, especially the original version of "The 'I Love Lucy' Christmas Show" since it was seen by fewer people over the years since the day of its original network presentation by the Columbia Broadcasting System, or CBS for short (the World Wide Web site Television Obscurities has an interesting article about "The 'I Love Lucy' Christmas Show" that includes details about the first time CBS presented the colorized version in 1990).
I believe a partly-colorized version (but not the entire show) of the 1956 "I Love Lucy" Christmas episode can be found on the Season Six DVD set of "I Love Lucy".
Could be. Sitcomsonline said it is a flashback episode and the flashbacks are in B&W. So CBS actually did nothing, this Christmas episode (colorized) already existed?
It was colorized some time in the late 80's or early 90's when the colorization craze was going on at that time.
The article said that the colorization would be more "50's style." I take it that means a lighter tone than most color shows now. Just guessing, but I'd think that this may be a new copy that has been digitally remastered rather than the earlier colorization methods.
