CBS turns conservative....again

Well, the fall schedule for CBS is out and talk about disappointing at least for me.
I am so sick of the reality shows and guess what they do? Add more.

They canceled Jericho in favor of a reality show with kids? Oh, that is screaming success. *sarcasm abound*

Ever since I was a kid since the end of M*A*S*H*. I have seen CBS as a network for the older set until Jericho. I was actually interested in that show and now it is gone. So back to my thoughts of CBS being "safe" and for the older set. Granted, I am getting older but I am still not interested in the shows. To me CBS is now known as the Constantly Boring Shows network.

Also, as for ABC (Average Bad Comedy) George Lopez was funny and so was Knights OF Prosperity but they really didn't give that one a chance. I wonder how different classic TV would have been if they gave the some respect or lack there of to Happy Days and Threes Company. Both had the same or worse ratings then the shows that were canceled.

NBC has some hope if they would get off there Deal or No Deal trip. They changed very little and I think the NBC might actually get out of the gutter.

Thanks my opinion and I am stinking to it. ;D

Yet CBS keeps "Rules Of Engagement" with the ruiner of TV shows David Spade. He ruined "8 Simple Rules" after John Ritter died as he wasn't funny in that show. He looks like he hasn't had a bath or a change in clothes in months.

At least Julia Louis-Dreyfus got out of the Seinfeld jinx with a 3rd season of "The New Adventures Of Old Christine" which is not so "New" now.

They treated "Jericho" like they treated "Joan of Arcadia" in that every time a good show comes on, they cancel it right on the spot.

I'm a big fan of Amber Tamblyn and it irritates me to no end that all the buzz was behind Babylon Fields getting picked up and then all of a sudden they decide that Moonlight, a Xerox of Forever Knight/Angel (which was pretty much DOA from what I understand) gets a series order.

Why can't zombies and vampire co-exist on the same network?! Why?!

Damn you, Tiffany Network!!!

Well, maybe if something bombs, they can decide to bring back Babylon Fields. Well, it's a thought, anyway.

Seems like CBS outguessed themselves twice on "Jericho." It supposedly was going to be the season's surefire bomb (no pun intended) and apparently CBS only had a limited number of episodes in the can when it hit the air. When it actually did well, it had to be put on hiatus after the initial run while additional episodes were shot. Unfortunately during that time it lost whatever momentum it had, and did poorly when it returned.

I thought "Shark" would likely get the axe, but it was "Close to Home" that went on the chopping block. Biggest worry for CBS might be having a large part of the schedule grow stale and burn out at the same time, resulting in the same malaise that hit NBC and ABC in recent years.

It wouldn't be the first time; back in the mid-'70s
CBS was content to spin off shows from hits like
"All In The Family" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"
rather than come up with anything new. It helped
put ABC on top in 1976, ending CBS's 20-year run
as the number-one network.

Although I agree with what you're saying here, the title of this thread is wrong, wrong, wrong.

CBS would have to fire everyone at Black Rock (including the janitorial staff), clean the offices with chlorox, and hire Rush Limbaugh to perform an exorcism in the building to actually turn conservative. ;)

Like it or not, liberalism is institutionalized there.

You know, this really really ticked me off!
I spent the whole season following Jericho, and now I'll never find out what happens.

Jericho was the one of the few new shows that I watched regularly this season. It looks like if CBS had decided to cancel it they should have let them do a final episode that would wrap up at least some of the loose ends instead of leaving it with a cliffhanger that implied there would be another season. The other option would be to do a movie to wrap up the loose ends, but I know that is highly doubtful.

I'ved watched it since the 2nd episode (Only my brother had told me about it) and I've haven't stopped watched it since. I told mom later about it and she started watching it (later episodes). All three of us would watch it. The only CBS show we've watched and now they cancels it!? What the heck were you thinking?! Maybe if they wasn't on hiatus after the first 11 episodes it would still be on. If a cable network (like Sci-Fi; after all sometimes they run the movie The Day After on there) is wise, they'll pick it up and run all the episodes and give it a decent run by producing more episodes and eventually putting this on DVD

Hi. Even though it might not do much good, there's a petition at http://www.PetitionOnline.com/09272006/petition.html to save this show. Sci-fi would be a good place for it ...it was through one of their airings of "The Day After" and looking up info online about that movie that I found out about Jericho. I watched it once before the big break they had, then waited patiently til it came back on. *&#@! CBS

I agree CBS made a big mistake with cancelling Jericho for a kids show.

(Who's the genius that came up with that?)

They also decided to move Without A Trace back to Thursdays in it's old time

slot and gave Shark it's old sunday night slot. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF MOVING

THE SHOW TO BEGIN WITH?

And if The New Adventures of Old Christine is a "hit" ;D sitcom like they say it is

why do CBS fans have to wait until midseason to get any new episodes while

they're new comedy (ANOTHER ONE) will bomb by the end of October?

I guess Moonlight will be a better rating draw than Close To Home (In another planet!) ;D

Viva Laughlin= Is that a dramedy ???

All of a sudden NBC doesen't look so bad to me.
