CBS: (wbuf) (wjye)

According to AllAccess.com, it is speculation that these two CBS-owned
properties, will go on the chopping block, ok - so who could, would
invest, and the potential asking price, either:
one, (the other) or priced as a set ?

-Curious.....................

Um.....not to state the obvious but these two aren't CBS-owned anymore, they're Regent properties.

Cowbell, no fault of radio bored-op, that's the way allaccess.com reported it. I guess they don't know who owns what anymore. It does get confusing sometimes without an an up to date scorecard, don't you think?

I haven't followed commercial radio all that closely in the past year, so I know I'll get corrected for this... but didn't CBS sell off all their Buffalo and Rochester properties a year or two ago? I thought there was some big fooferah about them running away screaming from the western NY markets...

Pretending that CBS DOES still own those properties....

I think Entercom will buy WBUF (dropping the Lake) and will make it an FM simulcast of WBEN, gathering a hefty 25 share 12+.

This will in turn make the other clusters jealous, at which point they'll each throw on a local FM newstalk station, and then another and another.

Since this will be the only position of strength that terrestrial radio still has over satellite, ipods, etc., Buffalo will be way ahead of the game by eventually having ALL of their AM/FMs be Newstalk.

Don't laugh TOO hard, Mr. Smith. If the RIAA gets its way and Congress makes terrestrial radio pay performance royalties - you can bet a LOT of stations will be switching to spoken word formats. So Steven21's scenario just might come true.

I would believe this more if someone were to bring up the idea that there is a hole in the market for "talk radio for guys"...then take things from there...

Hole?

Between WGR, for whom "sports" is the "topic of last resort", and Shredd & Ragan on The Edge, I don't see much of a "hole" for "talk radio for guys".

And the "guy talk" stations around the country have for the most part failed.

I actually enjoyed 92.9 in this incarnation. My problem with most talk stations in general is weekends and WBUF was no exception. There's just not enough compelling content.

The station I would prefer to compare things to would be AM640 in it's short life as "Talk radio for guys".
They didn't get the chance to have a fair enough run and they weren't even given a fair enough shot at doing half the stuff they wanted to do.

Humble and fred in the morning was an interesting move though.

Here's what the website used to look like:

(If you scroll down, you will find this claim:

"The Aural Fix Toronto has been waiting for !
MOJO Radio AM640 is the world's first talk radio station for guys - you can get the full details about the station (and our official press release) by clicking here!" )
