CBS West Palm

Any thoughts as to why CBS has held on to the West Palm properties? The market is outside their idea to remain only in the top markets and I couldn't imagine any of the stations are huge money makers outside of Sunny. Speaking of which, Sunny's numbers have been declining as of late. Any thoughts?

WPB is a top 50 market, #48 to be exact, and is 45th in billing. The CBS stations take about $21 million out of the total of $48 million billed last year in the market, so the cluster has to be very profitable.

Agreed that the stations have to be profitable but didn't CBS at one point last year state that they only wanted to be in the top 20 or so markets?

There was talk of top 50, top 25, but nothing real has come of it. They still have stations in the Victor Valley and Palm Springs markets in CA, neither in the top 200. I suspect they have valuations on the properties that exceed market pricing today. With the deals like Cumulus and Bonneville have done, valuations may be right for CBS to move. But, given the cluster dominance in WPB, I don't think they are rushing to spin that group...
