CBS fires Dick Biondi, Fred Winston and others in Chicago. They join Dan Ingram, Harry Harrison, Bob Shannon, Bobby Jay, Bill Brown , Don K. Reed and others who were given the shaft by CBS in NYC. Very Sad!

"got the shaft?"

The jocks in Chicago were given a full 18 months on the air after the Jack flip in Chicago. That's not getting the shaft. They had to know, on the inside, that they weren't going to be long for that station. HD radio cannot sustain any kind of listener numbers to get billing numbers to justify contracts of that type.

You want to mourn people, stop your selfish and needless WCBS yammering and think about the promotions assistant or engineers who were let go yesterday.

Unlike the talent and the GSMs, who were making high 5 figures/6 figures, they have to worry about if they want to stay in radio or segue into a different job field, and hope to hell that unemployment comes through so they can make their rent/car payment.

OK--you're right--I will do my best to stop the negative bitching and moaning and try to be more positive about the future of radio and tv. I'm serious! Thanks! Jay

Ummm....I think that would be 13 or 14 months...but who's counting. But then again, I believe the 20-30 percent or whatever we're "quibbling" about roughly corresponds with the cume drop and/or the revenue drop since the flip.
