Somebody on here wanted to know about CBS.

In my humble opinion, frankly i'm fed up with them and i know Jerry is. You all can guess all night long as to why the cowboys left KLUV. I'm here to tell you we were "Fed Up". We took the best producers and left. Period. I don't wanna discuss what all of you THINK the reasons were the Cowboys left KLUV/CBS.

I can also tell you the recent "lunches", "Brunches" and Meetings with Ron Chapman, Randy Friend and Peter Z are nothing more than Management thinking they're somebody "Special" hanging with a former legend. Anybody secure with their own talent doesn't need to do that. You think i'm going to go hang out with Roger Staubach or Troy Aikman or Jimmy Johnson just because they are popular and we all need to stroke each other's fragile egos?

When CBS ran off the likes of Jerry Bobo, Dave Seibert and others it has been downhill for CBS.

Now i've got to get back to my films of Tony Romo dodging bullets.

I'll be back.

I was fedup with KLUV when Larry Dixon was bounced around more than a Mav's basketball.........

So Bill...you hired Charlie Waters in place of Babe. How did that go?

Talk about ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

What business does a music station have carrying a sports broadcast. Doesnt make sense to me, anyways.

And it was more the fact that CBS discarded them rather than Cowboys leaving KLUV. Was Jerry fed up with CBS, or was CBS fed up with Jerry. Cowboys suck, anyways. Dont see them making a come back. Go Mavs.

Coach,

I think The Ticket could use some of your expert coaching on the commercial breaks. Know what i mean? :D

There's a simple, five letter word, answer to that question. I'll give you a hint; it starts with an "m"

Neither. Just CBS cost cutting. Now that CBS/Infinity has spent the better part of a decade wallowing in mediocrity, they can no longer afford veteran talent, cool contests and prizes, and the most valuable brand in Texas--the Cowboys.

Plans for the Fire Sale are still on.

It was thanks to the extra 5 to 6 million in billing from the Cowboys broadcast that pushed KVIL into the Top 5 billing stations in the country in the late 90's. KVIL topped out somewhere in the 34 to 36 million total billing range.

No one in this market has been anywhere close to that billing number since.

Amen to that. Brad Sham's better days have passed him by and Charlie is lost. That is some poor play by play.

Brad is like Frank Gifford, the game is sacret. He is way too serious, too stiff, and has needed to loosen up. He is too much of acheer leader a opposed to a playby play guy.Sure others cheer the team that pays them but they are more subtle in comparison to Brad. As it stands now the best play by play anywhere is Al Michaels and John Madden. Locally Scott Garner-Bill Mercer Frisco Rough Riders.

I think Steve Glenn & Ed Johnson are pretty darned good as well, for the KEOM sportscasts.

I RATHER HAVE BRAD SHAM THAN ANY OF THE TV GUYS. I PERFER THE LOCAL PLAY BY PLAY MAN WHO COVERS THE TEAM 24/7/365 THAN SOMEONE WHO GETS A LIST OF NOTES FROM THE PR GUY. SO YES I DO LIKE THE HOMER....

If Brad would keep up with the action it would help. The guy takes forever to describe the play. Sometimes I'm left wondering if the ball carrier is still running because it's not always clear by Brad's description whether the runner was tackled, fell down or ran out of bounds. To me it sounds like he's having trouble following the action anymore. And as I said Charlie was a great player but a color man he's not. The only thing I've heard worse recently was Brett Hull doing color for the Dallas Stars. Yikes!

Take a listen to the guys doing the national radio games for Westwood One. Brad Sham compares very favorably to them.

He also compares favorably to other home town play-by-play guys in the NFL.

Before you chase Sham off, beware of what might replace him.

You're right, we could do much worse. For years it's been obvious that the problem doesn't lie with Brad; it's the other guy in the booth. There is no synergy on the Cowboys broadcasts and there hasn't been since Verne Lundquist did the play by play. There's been no reason to "turn down the TV sound" since then, and that's been quite some time ago. While there's no question that Brad knows the game, he gets no support, and that's where the problem lies. He really does have a good sense of humor but it rarely shines because his partners have had no sense of timing. Few ex-jocks do.

Brad is just stiff, and is a cheerleader. Sure he can yell when there is a tremendous play. So What? If he loosened up,he might be palatable. He's been around doing the games for a long time and will continue, becasue of the name, not the method.
