Forget selling it. Viacom is selling TV's in markets where they can't form a duopoly and where they have no radio presence.
As for strategy, CBS has a ton of programming resources through King World, Paramount Television and its other local stations around the country, all of whom are being led to develop local and alternative programming. WSBK may want to consider news at 8pm or 9pm; but I agree that the three-hour block seven nights a week (as KCAL does) is not real practical for Boston.
One option is the "SportsCentral" long-form sports report that KCAL and KCBS have. KCAL runs it for 15 minutes each night at 10:45pm; KCBS airs it in one to three hour blocks during Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings/afternoons. It's like a local version of ESPN SportsCenter.
For WSBK to make a serious go of it, WBZ-4 has to be strong as well. How do they do against WHDH and WCVB?
