CBS5 Weather Now

Sorry if this has already been mentioned:

On digital channel 5.2 (which shows up as "KPHO-SD" on my TV), KPHO is running "CBS5 Weather Now". They are also streaming it @ http://www.kpho.com/weather/index.html (it's about 30 seconds to a minute behind the television version.)

Overall, I like it better than 12 News Weather Plus. I really like that the 7-day forecast (although it's just the temperatures, not the actual weather conditions) is always at the bottom of the screen - unfortunately, the graphic seems a bit blurry. They have an instrumental version of the regular newscast's theme playing the background, which I enjoy.

It looks like they are running promos and PSAs between the weathercasts. They have logos of advertisers (currently Robb & Stucky) on the lower right corner.

Does anyone know when this launched? This channel is not yet carried by Cox on the Digital Cable lineup - it's probably just a matter of time before that changes. Do Qwest or any of the satellite providers carry either CBS5 Weather Now or 12 News Weather Plus?

Qwest carries 12 News Weatherplus on channel 66. Weatherplus's forecasts are often off by 7-10 degrees on what I guess is the national feed. Of course, the local update gives the correct numbers, but it's confusing to me.

Maybe Qwest will eventually carry the KPHO weather channel. I, too, like the Enforcer theme.

I understand that Meredith is still negotiating Weather Now placement on Cox and other cable outlets, including Qwest.
I believe that Weather Now is on some East Valley cable now.

KPNX Weather Plus can be found at channel 763 on Cox.
If a local weather emergency came about, I'd trust the Weather Channel before Weather Plus.
Weather Plus is boring. I hope that Weather Now doesn't make the same mistakes.

BREAKING NEW...err...WEATHER!!!

Qwest cable will be carrying KPHO Weather Now on Channel 64 effective 2/27/07!

Now, if we just could get a real 24 regional NEWS channel in Arizona...maybe something like the Southwest News Network covering Arizona, New Mexico, Southern Nevada, and Desert California.
