I take all of your comments to heart and apologize for what appears to be an attack on the person of Dan Mason.
That's not my intention and It's admirable that so many people who have personal ties can attest to the goodness of his nature.
I respect that.
Without knowing the person, I reacted to the notion of a corporate manager making a sweeping programming decision. Period.
That in general is never a good thing and makes me cringe. The directive is not a bad one, I agree.
It's a bold gesture for a non-programming exec to make such a sweeping directive in such a public manner, and if it had been made for the benfit of the employees, or the listeners it may have sat better with me than the fact the the bold gesture was made on behalf of the record industry.
I do get your points that it is a gesture made to improve relations.
But no need to dress it up like its a creative decision rather than a business one.
I can let it rest at that.
