CBS's Phony Boston Fireworks Show

David Mugar, the EP, said that since it's "entertainment," not news, it was OK to show the Boston fireworks show on 7/4 from completely impossible angles, such as behind the State House, Fenway Park and Quincy Market.

Note the map with the caption "Fireworks all over Boston."

In another era, such a blatant lack of respect for the audience wouldn't have even been considered.

Somehow, this doesn't surprise me all that much. CBS's hour-long show has always come across as slicker and more "produced" than WBZ's own coverage (7:30pm-10:00pm).

I don't get how it's "lack of respect for the audience."

It's not unusual for live performances to be "enhanced" with applause or pitch correction. What makes this any different?
