CC blows out another GM. Mike Kenny gone...Bruce Logan Interim

from allaccess...
CLEAR CHANNEL/CHARLOTTE Pres./Market Mgr. MIKE KENNY has left company, according to internal e-mail this morning. No reason given for his departure.

That email indicates that OM BRUCE LOGAN is now Interim GM and will oversee Country WKKT, AC WLYT, Classic Rocker WRFX, Top 40/Rhythmic WIBT, Alternative WEND and Rock WVBZ until a replacement is named.

not surprised, all the CC Charlotte stations are crap anyway, when are they going to wise up and put somebody actually good up there? and how about a decent format? Don't let the door hit u...well u know how it go lol

Maybe they learned with Morgan that if it ain't fixed quick! Wow seems like this guy just got there and now he's gone. The way CC pushes the button on increased revenues it could be that he did a good job but not the job CC had on their radar screen. Seems like big guys especiall Clear Channel and Cumulus turn over MM's pretty darn fast. Should the next guy rent instead of buyings?

Yeah, it looks like heads are rolling at CC in GSO and Charlotte. Somebody has to be sacrificed for the poor performance in sales revenues. The reality is that people just aren't spending! CC wants revenue and the want it NOW! I think they'll continue to turnover their staff until they see progress in sales. And that may be a while!

GSM let go and I hear they moved a Local Sales Manager back into Sales. Lots of meetings about revenue. Got to prove to CC corporate that you're trying, so somebody's got to be the sacrificial lamb. It's been ugly at CC GSO, but getting uglier.

From what I hear Morgan spent more time golfing than he did in the office. Who knows what's going on in GSO and their MM. Understand the lounge is still open daily! GSO blew up the Spanish station to use Rush and made the station Rush 94 and know they must have taken a major revenue hit. Heard the Hispanic station was doing better than two a month and am sure Rush Radio is not in that ball park. One of the biggest problems with CC is the programming is done from Mars or somewhere so it is almost impossible to fit things that are wrong without corporate discussion.

Not about revenue at all...all about alleged sexual harassment.

I have heard the story of what seems to have happened and if it is true then the man deserved to be fired. Stupidity is one thing but being REALLY REALY STUPID is yet another. Seems Clear Channel has a problem in it's upper level management and alcohol. From what I am told the MM in Greensboro opening serves cocktails duinr office hours in the conference room (you can dry em out but you can't stop em from drinkin). Pleople arae bailing out of both markets as fast as they can find employment. Can John Hogan and the RVP's for this area really be that unaware of what's going on in these clusters? Toulas and Shurr need to talk to the rank and file to find out the real "inside" story. We all know that will never happen for it might be like running a real company. I don't think sometimes CC really wants to know what's going on.

A friend of mine used to be in national sales for the RKO station in Miami. During this time he drank a lot. I think it's all a part of doing buesness with clients over lunch and drinks. Then again working in radio the way things are now might drive a lot of us to drink!
