CC Charlotte Down on Saturday

So did no one else notice the dead silence on several CC stations late morning into mid-day this last Saturday? At one point, 96.1, 99.7, 102.9, 106.5,.... (all that I kept checking) were silent for a good while Saturday until sometime in the afternoon. I wonder how many noticed or complained? Does anyone know what happened?

Must have been some sort of technical problem. I think these channels are all on different towers, with 96.1 being the tallest and most powerful. But maybe they share the same microwave link that sends the signal out from the studio to their respective towers.

Nope they would have a different link for each station since they are on separate towers. Most likely a massive power problem of some kind at the studio. Not sure what their emergency power plan is. It's quite possible the emergency generator didn't come up when the power went out. For some reason backup systems seem to fail just when you need them most.

I do know they have an emergency transmitting tower behind the old WKQC/WNKS studios on Stuart Andrew. I would think it would be an easy task to get at least one station going on at that site with a PC and/or a CD player for music and commercials if they really wanted to.
