CC Cleveland cuts - Part Deux

So far

WTAM -Paul Rado and Marty Allen

WMVX - Brian and Joe

Most likely more on-air, and behind the scenes cuts to come. Word is accounting and traffic might be sent to Pittsburgh.

At CC Miami former WMMS talent Jennifer Wylde is downsized - and she tracked other stations!

All bets are off as CC cuts and implements national formats and "hub and spoke" operations.

This is a rough day for radio in general and a horrible day for many CC employees. It is a different world now. In the past there was always "Well, I'll just go someplace else - "

There is no place else. This is all part of the scariest times in this country I can recall. A major retrenching and a huge scramble for work. When the dust clears, we may be stronger for it but until then, itr's going to hurt.

Paul - if you read this, take care and stay safe. I was always jealous of your Modell impersonation and wished I had a Cleveland show to take advantage of it. You always stated you were a fan of mine and that will always be appreciated. Here's to soft landings, friend!

Brian & Joe - Guys, I will never forget your graciousness when you allowed me to date both of your wives in Las Vegas and we came back at 3 AM inebriated and with tattoos. Now THAT is the way to do Vegas. We have always been mutual fans and I'm wishing you good stuff. You've survived this before.

Paul/Brian/Joe - let's stay in touch via e-mail ([email protected]) or facebook or something, can we?

I need a drink. And it's only 10 AM ...

Sorry to hear about Marty Allen...here's hoping Brian and Joe can find something matching their talents..

Given the state of this business, who is going to be next to drop the axe..or file for Chapter 11?

For all the times that Trivisanno has gone against "the grain", so to speak, complaining about how management tells him how to do his show or what he can and cannot say on his show, this is the time he needs to step up to the plate.

This would be a great time for him to let loose on the current situation at Oak Tree in the former "Asbestos Palace" that once housed First Energy. He just got the news he was number one again in afternoon drive, he is pretty much one of the only (good) live air talents left in said time period, and if he did go across town to another station, he'd pretty much stick the fork in what's left of the non-sports side of'TAM. It might even force CC to (gasp!) sell off the giant Time & Temp sign at the Cloverleaf back to Goodyear!

Watching CC force interns off the show, or firing certain newscasters heard during the Triv show is and has been common for years. But firing your best radio producer and your goto guy for making funny bits, I'd start telling it like it is...

Triv can easily land on his feet and continue to be successful if he either left on his own accord or if he was fired for speaking about his employers (which he is not afraid of doing).

Of all the times he has said over the years that he is mad as hell and wasn't going to take it any more on certain issues, he should put his money where his mouth is and use this unfortunate event to speak out on behalf of all former CC co-workers and those listeners that know how he feels when they go into work each morning, if they still have their job.

It's time for Triv to drop the Big One on The Big One and to tell CC to look at The Big One he is holding up on both hands.

What Triv did by not sticking up for Paul and Marty is pretty much stab 2 very loyal coworkers in the back. I don't understand how Triv couldn't protect his cast the same way Rover and Lanigan protect theirs'.

I have no doubt that the four will land on their feet elsewhere if they desire to stay in the business. And I suspect that anyone at Oaktree will be very careful around Trivisonno.

Wixy your blog is awsome and Marty/Paul will land at a better station I know Paul from many years ago
when we worked together at a hotel where he was the night auditor and I was the house D.J.
I met Paul's brother Milan years later and got updates on the goings at CC,as for Triv hate to say it but GREED
GOT THE BETTER OF HIM AND THAT'S WHY PAUL/MARTY ARE GONE!
The proof is simple actions speak louder than words and Triv's action is that he didn't want to respond to the firing until he was forced by several callers since when has TRIV shut his mouth about anything.
1)COMPLAINS ABOUT RAY DAVIS/CC
2)Last Year complained about LeBron because of the hat's he wears so what he's a YANKEE FAN,WENT AS FAR AS TO SAY LBJ WAS A PUNK THIS YEAR NOT ONE PEEP JUST A LOT OF BUTT KISSING FROM TRIV.
3)COMPLAINS ABOUT LANIGAN,MAXWELL,ROVER AND THE PEOPLE AROUND THEM.
4)DID HE COMPLAIN ABOUT PAUL/MARTY BEING LET GO NOT ONE PEEP FROM THAT EGO-MANIAC,HOWARD STERN GARY DEE WANNA-BE JERK.
Mike watch out YOUR NEXT IF YOUR NOT SYNDICATED OR ON THE MULTITUDE OF CC STATIONS THEN YOUR HIGH SALARY CAN BE SLASHED AND YOU PUT RIGHT OUT WITH THE TRASH.

Thank you.

As I have posted elsewhere this week, I feel Rado will do well as he's as much blue collar Cleveland as Chuck Schodowski. He and Marty know how to work and aren't afraid to work hard to get to the next phase of their careers. If you have ever seen Paul at a remote, you will see that he really connects with the public well.

I'm anxious to see how well they can do not having to be Triv's yes men.

And as a side note, I've been listening to parts of Rover's show in the past couple of days. I doubt that I would ever be a regular listener, but I have gained some respect for him the way he protected his cast with his contract.

His silence yesterday was quite interesting. The only things worth listening to on Triv's show have been the traffic reports, which he pushes aside regularly and the Rado/Allen bits. Now there's no reason to tune in other than "around" the tens, because he doesn't pay much attention to the format.

Triv should do novenas to thank the radio gods that he has a gig. He won the lottery, in large part thanks to former GM Jim Meltzer. Nobody who sounds as stupid as Triv would get within a quarter mile of a radio station, much less get paid the money he gets paid to embarrass himself and the great city of Cleveland. That he's #1 is truly remarkable.

Just in...Kurt McLaughlin (Dirty Kurt) will now be technical director of Triv's show. Steve Douglas is now the show's producer. Douglas comes from overnight traffic guy.

Steve Douglas was also the first traffic guy to replace Pat Butler after Triv pretty much run him off afternoon drive. If you recall, Triv gave out Pat Butler's cell phone number over the air.

Hey, here's a question: if Triv sucks so badly, why do you guys listen to him? Is it just so you can offer your 'professional' critiques on some internet message board?

I mean, seriously; it 's like the guy that complains about being hot when he's standing in a bonfire.

Honestly, I hadn't listened a lot of late for a number of reasons. The biggest reason I have posted so much on the subject is that Rado is a friend. I think he and Marty Allen got a raw deal without the smoke coming from Independence. Part of me thinks this is the nature of the business, but another part smells something fishy.

I'm also sure that if these rumors turn out to be true, if Trivisonno can live with it, Paul and Marty can live without it. I'm also looking forward to the next phase of their careers.

Personally, I don't listen to him, since I don't like illiterate, uninformed radio hosts. The Triv Show sounds like amateur radio. I do tune in to try to catch the traffic reports and, unfortunately, since he can't stick to the format, get his blather. In afternoon drive, I'm listening to stations from Detroit, Richmond and Wheeling except when I want local news and information. Unfortunately, there is no good local news operation.

I met Marty Allen at WTAM radio back in 1995 and he gave me a short tour of the station. His is very cool person with a good personalty. He is the type that doesn't let anything get him down. Note the photo of Marty Allen to the right in this post by Ohio Media Watch on the WTAM cutbacks. He is able to keep
his sense of humor in tack besides being let go from the station. Click here to see the Ohio Media Post and photo:

Triv is too frightened to say anything. Clear Channel bosses are holding his snack foods hosatge. He opens his mouth and the Ding Dong gets it.
