CC Cleveland evacuated?

I'm listening to WMJI's stream, and the jock mentioned that they were "shut down" for awhile because of a strange package delivered to the floor below them. Anyone have any more details?
______________
I'll get back to you when I think of a cute quote

6200 Oak Tree Blvd. was evacuated--all of the building, not just CC World Domination HQ.

WTAM was broadcasting from the parking lot, the remote van no doubt--Trivisonno outside in 90+ degree heat. In other news, Independence has flooded from Triv's sweat...

I'm sure the other stations either stuck on automation before evacuation, or has backups at their transmitter sites.

For what it's worth, WTAM's internet stream during the ordeal was Fox Sports Radio (!).

All the CC Cleveland stations sans WTAM which is primarly talk have their music in Nexgen2 so it was simple as clicking "Auto mode" :) Would sound "bland" without jocks but all the music / commericals would play without human touch..

WTAM since its doing a lot of "live" talk I assume they just Marti'ed from their van or what not. With a laptop and wireless, they could easly control Prophet (nexgen2) from there.

That's my best guess, I dont live in Cleveland or listen to their stations so I dont know exactly what they did.

So, how is this any different than how these FMs operate most of the time?
Human touch? You mean Mike Ivers adjusting his monitor every once in a while
while he reads the newspaper after mechanically pre-tracking his entire show by 11 AM?

For the record, from wtam.com:

A Triv Show Without Commercials, Callers Or News? Here's Why...

"Our building at 6200 Oak Tree Boulevard in Independence was evacuated for two hours Monday afternoon, after reports that people became ill after handling a package sent to another tenant. After the package arrived at Novastar Mortgage, a handful of people from that office became ill with nausea and headaches. That’s when police were called, who called in fire crews and hazmat."

"Reports are that the package – which contained paperwork – smelled like eucalyptus. Hazmat crews tested the package and the atmosphere inside the building, and all came back negative. Still no word on what the substance was; it has been sent for testing."

"During the evacuation, WTAM 1100 ran alternate programming, until Mike Trivisonno and crew were set up in a makeshift tent studio outside the building. They carried on with a commercial free “play-by-play” of the events as they transpired. Our sister stations (KISS 96.5, 99.5 WGAR, Majic 105.7, 100.7 WMMS and Mix 106.5) ran automated programming during the evacuation."

I was in a meeting at the time, and completely missed it. Anyone have tape?

See having automation is not such a bad thing, if this been the old days of radio there would had been slience because no one could play a load a cart or play a CD :)

Prophet runs no matter what danger may be lurking inside! All that matters to the CC folks is that their spot inventory gets played and with the execption of WTAM, it was business as normal :)

Ofcourse, Triv fans got "commerical free, non stop triv" I am sure that made a lot of people happy :)

A legendary situation with CKLW in the late 60s. Someone tried to cut down CKLW-TV's (now CBET)tower, outside the Big 8's building. Being all live top 40 at the time, when the building was evacuated, they took one turntable to the transmitter site in Harrow, Ontario and ran that way with a jock..no commercials, jingles, just the jock and some 45s.
______________

I heard it was the result of the Marty Allen & Paul Rado "Bob Evans Bratwurst" roadtrip commercial.
