CC cuts in the Florida Keys

I hope that Bill Bravo was not one of those cut. He does a great, listener-intensive afternoon drive show. In addition, his remotes from the Duval St. clubs translate well on the radio. Another loss in the world of Clear Channel.

According to Wow 92.7's website, it looks like Bill Bravo remains and that the morning show was cut. Kevin and Virginia have added another affiliate. I would rather see Kevin and Virginia on Y100 than Elvis Duran. At least Kevin and Virginia are local (somewhat).

Wow 92.7, along with WMFM 107.9 and WPIK 102.5, are still running flea power, after well over 1 year, due to hurricane damage. I believe our OP told us this.

From 1999 or so, to maybe 2005, WKEZ 96.9, then called Easy 96.9, had a dynamite music playlist---soft AC with their fair share of "oh wow" stuff (of course with no DJ's, I'd have to figure some out myself)....I was told that KC Stuart was the man behind this. Sad if he was one of the ones to get the ax.

After 2005/06, they became "Key-Z" FM, running shadowcast with WKEY 93.5, and to this day, I had no idea what they were trying to accomplish with that format (which mighta been "soft AAA"). Today they are running True Oldies Channel (WGMX Marathon has joined the two stations, so the signal is heard all thru the Keys). I heard them also running either Sunday or Monday night NFL as well!

Both station were sold to the Marathon Group Who Owns WFFG/WGMX. True Oldies will probably do well in the Keys.

Bill is a great person and a super DJ. I worked with him for a brief time in the 80's. I'm glad he is still there. It looks like one live announcer will remain on each CC station in the Keys.

I would rather see Kevin and Virginia on Y100 than Elvis Duran.

Does Y100 have any live local shifts.

^ Thanks for clearing that up w/ WGMX.

I think that if True Oldies doesn't cut it, the trio might do well in just relaying WFFG (like 101.7 did), and at least there will be news/talk to cover the entire drive down. YMMV

Conservative talk would be be a tough sell (especially in Key West). I don't know about theupper Keys.

Well, Michael Yo does a customized, voicetracked show for Y, but it is done from Los Angeles. Mack at Night's show is also customized, but not live. I believe he is, however, local.

I haven't listened to Elvis Duran's show in a long time, but Isn't "Froggy" on it? He is the local producer at Y-100, and some of his input in the past has been about Miami.
