CC cuts sales draws nationwide

Clear Channel is cutting sales draws nationwide. On average, $1,500 in mid-level markets like Sacramento; $2,000-$2,500 in majors like SF and LA. The company wanted to drop it to a thousand here but the GM reportedly convinced them to bumped up another $500. By California law, outside commission-based sales people (that's sales people who spend more than half their time outside the office) must make $2,080. AEs at the CC shop: Not happy.

As someone who's never been in sales, I'm curious: is that figure per month or per pay period?

Newsperson responds:

Please tell us where we can look up that law and the formula for it.

In regard to California law the minmun wage is $ 8.50 per hour which at 174 hours per month it equals $ 1,479.00 per month. That's damm close to the new Clear Channel revised pay.

On the other hand licensed real estate sales people who work mostly outside the office can be paid only on commission. However if they work specified hours such as Noon to six at a developers site, they are employees and must be paid an hourly wage.

Back to Clear Channel, I don't beleive they made any compromise on pay, the sales people are employees and must be padi at least minimun wage.
