CC Drops The Hammer Again

Speaking of CC, are they ever going to pull the plug on that disaster at 96.7 in Greenville? It's horrible. And sports is not an excuse, they could at least change the music format and it would undoubtedly do better. A .8 share is pathetic when they were getting a 2 share as rock. Just because it's a class A doesn't mean it should be tossed aside as trash- the time has come to dump this "Shine" stuff.

I guess some posters are happy with WMYI in the winter book. They finished well 12+. I think the heritage the AC format has there is what keeps them on top of Magic (who, IMO, sounds so much better, especially now), even though it sounds blah. Will be interesting to see how the departure of Sue will affect the ratings.

if cc ever does change 96.7 i would think they would go back to rock. it would go with usc sports and pull some of 101.1s audience and improve the rank of their other properties. imo it would take a good class c to fragment 107.3s position in the market if either cc or entercom wanted to do that.

I agree about rock. However I don't know if anybody in the building would know how to program rock, remember the PD for 102.5 is programming 96.7 also and I guess the country stations are the same, I'm not sure. When 96.7 was Buzzard they actually had some staff. I guess whatever they do will depend on what talent they have in the building as I am sure they will not hire talent for such a small station at this point. I think they keep christian because the 102.5 staff [at least the PD and Liz Ryals] can run it.

cc announced recently that some of their programming would be national. i guess it would be formats with one programmer that would play nationwide. it wouldn't matter if cc had someone to program 96.7 or if they had people in the building to be deejays. they could use deejays in other markets like they do now. it's probably why they fired more last week.

True. I read a thread somewhere on here that many Clear ACs are running the same songs at the same times now. has anyone noticed this with WMYI? I listen to WBBQ some and haven't noticed. Anyone noticed this with WLYT in Charlotte?
they will probably wind up tracking/syndicating 102.5 entirely, have maybe the morning show live on 100.5 and get rid of a live shift on WESC by year's end. JMO.... Actually I think everything outside of mornings on WSSL are tracked

Still no Bill Love page. Seriously, I will give them the benefit of the doubt from last week, but this is getting a bit awkward. It makes it look like there isn't even a morning show and he's the best thing the station has. No more daily morning show blogs/recap?

I find all of this very interesting. Reminds me of radio's early days. In the 30s and 40s many stations carried a huge portion of programming over the 'cable' from the network. CBS, NBC, Blue Network, or whatever. Now, look at what is going on. Only thing now, it's only to save money. :-[ Always comes back to that.

Thanks for the 96-7 The Buzzard props! We did a lot for such a little station. It was a great time for the staff and listeners. Anywho....b.s. a mile long aside, check out 1059themountain.com out of Asheville. It's very similar to The Buzzard prior to the Classic rock days and New Rock nights version. Rock it!
