CC/Fox News Stations That Still Have Harvey

As you know, Clear Channel and Fox News embarked on a deal in which it would replace ABC News on most of their news/talk stations. In most cases, such as WOAI in San Antonio, gone with ABC News are the Paul Harvey segment.

But it is not the case for all of them... WLW in Cincinnati retains Harvey despite the switch to Fox News.

WTVN in Columbus also heavily promotes Harvey like they used to.

How many other stations? I'd like to get a percentage of those with Paul vs. without.<P ID="signature">______________

Correct me if I'm wrong but as long as they clear the ABC News ads they can run Harvey w/out running the TOH news. I believe that's how WGN/Chicago does it since they produce their own local TOH news.

WREC AM 600 in Memphis still has Paul Harvey. WTJS AM 1390 in Jackson, TN has the AM broadcast, and WTNV (a country station) 104.1 FM in Jackson has the Noon broadcast.

Generally speaking, in the past, if you wanted to be a Paul Harvey affiliate, you were required to clear an ABC Radio News network. When I worked at a station that went from CBS to ABC and took Harvey, this was outlined to us. Of course, as in the case of WTAM, this "clearance" can be limited to spot carriage, as WTAM does not carry the full newscasts (from either ABC or FOX).

With many major CC-owned talkers moving from ABC to FOX for their primary news source, it appears ABC is backing off somewhat from the requirements noted above. Without big market CC news/talkers like WTAM, WLW, etc., Harvey loses a LARGE chunk of his nationwide audience.

Thus, Harvey stays. Now, I have no idea if ABC is still requiring extra spot load associated with news networks for the Harvey carriage, but I doubt they're requiring the large load of spots associated with the Information network...

In Miami, WIOD's site still says " Paul Harvey @ 5:50 and 8:30" and "Paul Harvey News @ 11:35" and "Paul Harvey’s Rest of the Story @ 6:55"

WJNO's site (in WPB) is similar. Both are CC stations.
