CC Hiring Freeze

Just because they are posted does not mean they are hiring. They are probably posting them to get resumes on file so when (if) they do start hiring again, they will have a pool of applicants to pull from.

But that's misleading.

It's part of companies' EEO requirement to consistently recruit possible future talent. Almost all decent sized companies in the U.S. do this.

With the recent news of a -3% revenue report...thats not good for San Antonio. Something tells me that their no spending money til April is going to be extended to July maybe August.

Revenues might be down; but more importantly, profits are up from last year, same period. All that cost-cutting is doing its job.

It is, for now. To truly get profits up, however, one needs to grow revenue. That's the first thing we learned in Eco 101. You do not grow a company by cutting labor. If you will look at Clear Channel's profits over the years, there was always a spike after each round of layoffs. Eventually, you will get labor down so low that there is nothing left to cut and unless you grow profits, you'll have to start cutting elsewhere. Cutting labor is a great way to kiss some Wall Street patootie for a short term bump in profits, but it never lasts. Other expenses remain, and will increase like rent and utilities. Clear Channel is drowning in it's own incompetence, the stock is about 10 bucks less than what Lee and Bain agreed to (and falling) it's just a matter of time before this deal goes south and Sam Zell rides in to save the day.
