I know it was stated in the previous thread on the second page (thanks miranda).... but its nice to start out fresh!

Announced Wednesday in an all staff meeting CC Houston would be selling KLOL for sure, and corporate would be deciding soon whether to sell KHMX or KTBZ. No other stations in the cluster were named.

Would be nice if CBS bought KTBZ and put Opie and Anthony on in the mornings.. unless the boys decide not to renew their contract with CBS come April.

What about SBS Or Entravision????

They have to sell two stations. Logic would say that it will be easier to do a deal with a company that will take both, rather than separate deals. There is no requirement that the formats of either be kept. And, due to the required speed, it's likely they will look for someone with available cash or lines of credit, which I think eliminates SBS at the moment.

When is the required time? By when does CC have to sell these stations???

If im not mistaken, CBS can still own 2 more radio stations in Houston. My bets are on CBS being the suitor

The limit is five FM's, and CBS currently only has two. Gonna be a nice bidding war. Price guess, anyone?

Would Bonneville International, Entercom or Emmis be interested in buying those stations? They had owned FM stations in Houston before.

Just thinking about valuation...old rule of thumb would have KHMX annual cash flow of 17M x 5 = 85M ... last sale in town was KRTS to Radio One for about 72M...I'm thinking KLOL with cash flow of 14M (?) x 5 = 70M ... hmmm, we HAFTA sell these IMMEDIATELY in a really crappy economy in a declining industry...155M x .8 = $120M-125M for both stations...

KHMX bills around $16 million, so the BCF is likely to be around $7 million. At current multiples, that gives it a worth of around $75 million, but this is a fire sale.

BCF of maybe $3 to $4 million, maybe. Remember, this is a station that changed format around July / August of last year because of sales issues.

For most buyers, KLOL probably looks like a stick, not an ongoing enterprise. Just my opinion, of course....

Bonneville is interested in these stations, but CC may not like it. Bonneville is into programming news. They know how to do it right and how to make money on it.

What station did Bonneville own here ??

Old Chicago

Shiloh

FM news? - seems like CC would say have at it. Not sure if that's ever worked anywhere, anytime.

WTOP, Washington, DC. Moved totally from the 50 kw AM facility to FM, and 25-54 numbers are up and station is by far the #1 biller in the market (40% more than the #2 station). Since AM is simply unable to attract the 25-54's, we will see more of this in the future.

There are over a dozen news/talkers that have moved from AM to FM, in markets like Phoenix and Indianapolis, and many more transitioning on both bands, like Dayton, SLC and Jacksonville.

KPEL-105.1 FM Lafayette, LA. Moved from AM 1420. 2nd highest biller in Regent's Lafayette cluster.
