CC Nashville Cutting the Fat

Appears to be a CC trend. Nothing like trimming the fat from an already thin product in order to impress the new
buyers.

Hearts and prayers to those who were affected.

odd how that fat always seems to be on-air personnel and programmers--but I promise you, OldGringo will swoop in at any moment and tell you how this is not so, how voice tracking and cookie cutter programming has nothing to do with Clear Channel Clonning

Show business has always been tough on people sort of like the tide comming in and then washing back out there is nothing new about it. In this day and time the loss of hospitilization and dr insurance coverage is a lot to loose. now I think it is bettr to go in different direction that will make more money for your family. Sorry for the loss of anyones job some never recover from it and have to keep starting over again and again. Other business turn over people but not near as bad as radio business.

Sadly, this is common practice in a lot of businesses these days. When for the same amount of savings they could cut 1 v.p. or several working class people guess who gets cut. I have been out of the radio game for sometime now, but I see similarities with other types of businesss and radio. Hiring management on the 2 to 3 year plan is not good no matter what industry you are in.

Rest assured that the moronic Marc Chase, who was "reassigned" out of Atlanta so he could devote all his energies into running Nashville in the ground, will still have HIS job.

Radio is a different kind of business. They are now paying outside companies to do services that the employees used to do to save money on employee benefits (contracted employees have their own benefits), to not have to worry about programming agreements with huge salaries (voice tracking), and the lasted thing is creative companies to produce commercials which will elimate all production employees. That is usually the first place Cumulus and CCC cuts when wanting to cut costs on the programming side.

Best of luck to those that are looking at possibly loosing their positions in the near future.

Do we know who will get cut? Or do we have to wait for the 4pm Friday firing time, when the grim reaper floats down the hall to do his duty of doom for the company?

According to the news on Fox, it's already happened.  I guess it's up to those involved to spread the word, although I would presume they have been told not to.

It happened in Memphis a couple of weeks ago. 12 folks let go. Sliced across on air folks, traffic, promotions, and support staff. It was a really sad day around here on November 4'th
