According to fybush.com, WTPA has the radio rights to PSU football for 3 years.
ESPN1400 gets PSU basketball. Guess CC is counting on the local infomercials
on WHP. Bet 1460 will take Pitt football.
PSU football has always been a huge cume magnet for the Old 580. And the easiest radio sale since Marconi was a pup. Epmark is no doubt correct--Infomercials Rule!
93.5 + 1400= no signal for us Lion fans out in the woods. Hope Chambersburg's 800 keeps Penn State--the signal goes forever.
WOW!!!! wtpa... now doing penn state football sat and steelers on sun ... and rumors of them also running hershey bears games too??? with ed's "retirement" from there it seems like there getting rid of there "classic rock" format for more of a sports format.
maybe wtpa ... will put espn's mike and mike in the morning in there morning drive slot.
and don't people have to pay extra for big ten football network on there tv's for penn state football??? who is going to be listenin to the radio when there shelling out extra every month for that network. It seems like the X is going to be picking up more rock listeners during the weekend when people are tired of football weekends and just want some rock
Did you see their Harrisburg numbers? If....and that's a big IF...there were plans on the drawing board for a shift to sports....they need to look at the numbers.

Doesn't the X air Eagles football? So where do rock listeners who don't want 7 hours of Steelers and 5 hours of Eagles go on Sunday?
Well..... this is starting to make all kinds of sense.
They pick up penn state football sat, then run steelers on sunday..... and now we hear that warm is going to flip its format within days or weeks from another posting. Now I've got the wheels turning for sure..
Would they flip TPA to a sports/guy format and then use warm for ROCK?? It kinda makes sense because why would they be so interested in penn state / steelers / and the hershey bears IF they didn't plan on doing anything?

as far as the X website I see NOTHING on eagles football being broadcasted this fall nor have I heard any air talent mention anything about football and you would think something would be up being that pre seasons starts NEXT MONTH..
so who knows... the X maybe where rock listeners can go for music.
They can stick to rock during the week, and let ESPN1400 have the sports gab with a side of cross-promotion for PSU and the Steelers. The lighter stuff (Nittany Lion Hotline and basketball) can stay on the AM. Local sports talk hasn't pulled big numbers in 20 years (WSBA).
