what is this a pissing contest??

I may have been unclear in my post rob...I meant what does Wooten-know? :)

Empty post, continued. Please rob, add something. It's time for your market update, how
stations "sound," any body in jail, should be, etc. Any stations so broke they go 24/7 without
any ads.

Getting nothing but static...

Hey Tibbs, I've visited in a few markets around AL, FL and MS the last 7 or 8 weeks and the picture seems about the same everywhere, one or two stations in each market 'sound' healthy with a good many local ads but of course with no way to check rates........but the rest of the stations will all have PI's or network spots or just PSA's and if there are local spots you can count the number of different local spots per hour on less than one hand. If they weren't sat fed and had to fill breaks with something they would be music 24/7 (coincidence?).

BTW, happy new year to you and cceng and rob and everyone else. And, while we are filing an empty post, any buzz as to whom President Obama will ask to head the FCC?

A) Yup. Three deep in 25-54 & three deep in 18-49... then a whole lot of filler.

B) Last week Obama tabbed one of his old Harvard buddies, Julius Genachowski, as his pick for FCC Chairman. He's an IT guy--focused on internet issues--so radio will likely take a back seat for awhile, at least. He is seen as someone with strong leanings toward the public interest (good), but was also part of the Clinton administration that allowed the Telecom Bill of 1996 to rape radio (not so good). As I've read, they supposedly did this as a tradeoff for the bill keeping its hands off the net & the cell phone industry. Radio was the bone they tossed to the Republicans in the "sausage making" of the legislative process.

But, hey, he's had 13 years to see how well that worked out. Maybe he'll crack out that Big Stick needed to break up the Standard Oils of the radio biz...

Unde-regulate Radio? Brilliant idea. Maybe if we all say this one hundred times by the end of the week, it'll catch
the ears of the Obama team. Obama already trashed Rush today. Maybe he'll see that the last thing we need is
to bail out the airwaves from the mess created and have to take over the industry so the U.S. Government will
control the industry and what they say. Hmmm!

Oh, I know they are the #'s that don't really count, but congrats to WRKN for having 1/3 of the audience of 99 Rock.
And, WTKE wasn't hurtin' even though this book made talk/sports peak.

Gotta give it to the team at Qantum. Stellar #'s. Is Mr. "What Does Tibbs Know About the Market" still running
things? Actually, just playing a bit there, the "real" #'s may be okay of the FLY.

Anyone remember when Island and WPFM showed up in the FWB book? Thoughts? rob?

By the way, rob, we need a strobey update. See any tower lights out?
