CC Robo-News reaches a new low

So I am sitting here listening to 104.7, and they are doing the hourly robo-news break that is
voice tracked out of Cleveland (you know, the one where they mangle the pronounciation
of Wilmerding and North Versailles, and tell me the results of city council elections from Scranton and Wilkes-Barre).
The newscaster just said (and I am not making this up.....)"President Bush visits Africa, and
in a speech, expresses hope for free and fair elections in our neighbor to the south"

???!!!!!!!!

Anyone else catch that on tape? I was only half listening and did not catch the newscaster's
name. Journalism is dead! This is even worse than what turns up on those screen crawls
on the cable news channels.

Like the broad on Air America who keeps saying the the Iraqi insurgents are out
there planting IUD's??
 
I'm surprised that a station like WPGB, with great ratings and a serious competitor for the mostly local KDKA, relies on so much content from the birds.
 
They don't care because they don't have to. They know that you have either sold your radio soul to Rush, et al and therefore are going to keep listening if they do a good local newscast, a really bad one (more often than not) or just play a Sousa march for 3:33. If they thought for a second you were going anywhere to get a decent local newscast and taking your ears away from their sponsors they would provide one.

Like I said. They are just playing to their audience.
