It's supposed to happen by the end of the month...we'll we see more job/talent eliminations immediately, or will it be a long, slow, torturous end to the CC conglomerate? How many bodies on this board alone will be affected if CC clusters shut down?
 
Don't think it would shut down; they already have company wide hiring freezes and cost cutting; they didn't send anyone to the NAB show this year and some of the other seminars that they usually send people to. The cost cutting is noticeable in the on-air product, IMHO....yesterday Krista was on wrwd,middays voicetracked, with an awful cold, sounded awful on the air, shouldn't have been on like that. Plus seems Walker is absent at least a day a week (????) so that means stump jumper Dave is on am drive and the other part timers on afternoons. Quality is slipped on wrwd since Paty Quyn left and the afternoon drive guy left....Not sure about the rest of the stations in that cluster. Don't listen to any of the other stations; sure everyone there is worried about getting the boot. I think everybody's doing a good job and it's not easy to work under those conditions, worrying about employment. One could only hope the new owners will take good care of the employees.... it's tough out there.....

Him being absent 7 days a week would be an improvement. Krista sounded horrible today too. The programming has become flat over the last couple of months with the only bright spot being the show piped in from CA.
 
Yeah, Ulster, agreed although he does some good stuff for the community. Needs to check the ego at the door. I really Liked Lia Knight's show that they pulled off and put whitney allen, probably was cheaper than running Lia.....whitney sounds like a teenybopper, not at home playing country.....

Clear Channel admits its go-private deal may never close - and delays its dividend
They'd hoped to be privately-held by now, and the deal's failure to close by the end of March is now one of Wall Street's most-watched stories. Late Friday, Clear Channel announced it's deferring the usual quarterly dividend, at the request of would-be buyers Bain Capital and Thomas H. Lee Partners. It also tells the FCC it can't offer any timeline for when the deal might close, because of the recalcitrance of the six banks in the lending group. Stock in "CCU" drifted down 40 cents in Friday trading to close at $29.20. Ironically - that's exactly $10 below the still-standing buyout offer of Bain Capital and Thomas H. Lee Partners.

Whatta friggin disaster....and as we said the folks at the Pok cluster are in limbo as to what's gonna happen to their jobs. Gotta love the radio business!!!!

I think whether you are working for Cheap Channel or any other radio owner, you are constantly worried about your job. The sad reality is that there are very few businesses anywhere in the country where people aren't worried about losing their gig. The boys and girls and Washington have really done us proud. You can carry your gun, butr will you have money to buy the bullets??!?
 
Damn shame all the way around. not just in radio either. I'm gunna take me some rosetta stone classes and get a spanish speaking gig. Ola!!

I hear the al jalalai lai lai lai is hiring and offeringincentive packages with virgins and backpacks.

At least ONE live "remote broadcast" per resume sent!!!!
