I suppose that "short-lived" is bit relative. The station lasted about 3 years. Nice crew, included the polarizing Craig Scott as GM -- people either loved him, or hated him. Other notables included Sara Kimmel (great gal), David Edney (the very talented Chris Madison), and one of my favorite Jackson classics, Don Brady (a bit wacky, but a great guy once you get to know him. One of the most intelligent people I have ever met).

Thanks.
Just as a footnote... one might remember that the AM continued to plug along in Magee for a while, as it was paying its way. But, when CSB Comm. was offered $300k for it, it was an easy decision.
Ahh, a trip down Amnesia Lane.

I'll try to help with WSJC history . WSJC AM & FM was sold in 1988,by the Mathis family, to a gentleman named Craig Scott who was primarily interested in the FM station only .The FM was then moved to the Jackson/Ridgeland area and was then known as WMJW or "Majic 107 FM " . It was then transferred as LMA with WKXI and became "Kixie 107" . The AM was left in Magee but has been sold a time or two , and I believe now is owned by the Seventh-Day Adventist . Not quite sure of the how's and why's of bankrupcy , except for the fact that there is not a great following of Seventh-Day Adventist in and around Simpson County . I'm sure the station would be much better off as a Classic Country or Southern Gospel format in that area .

It has been done, actually. Majic 107. 1988 to 1991.
Station sounded great (but boring -- it was pretty soft), was well-mananged, and well-programmed.
It got its clock cleaned, though, when 'TYX went Oldies and took its Oldies base away. As billing declined, ownership got uncomfortable and LMAed the thing.
It's KXI now.
GM was Craig Scott and then Marshall. Both good guys with good business sense.
'Not sure now is the time for a really Soft AC now. This was back when Soft AC was really en vogue, and it worked. Tastes have changed a bit, as evidenced by the fact that most of the successful Soft stations around then (remember the WARMs, COZYs, etc.) are gone now.
But, heck. You gotta play something, I guess.
