CC simulcast KBUC on 93.3

No idea.
But congrats to them for getting it on the air. Could this be their answer to 104.9 signing on?

This audio quality does sound a bit better than 104.9. 104.9 needs more treble.

Sounds like it's permanent.
KZEP-HD2 is up - I just checked, playing K-Buc.

I wonder what happens to 104.9 though if CC has their way with the thing. Does it get erased?

Two Mainstream Country Stations
Two Classic Country Stations,
Two Classic Rock Stations +1 if you count KISS and Jack,
Two forms of AC,
Two Rhythmic CHR Stations
Two Regional Mexican Stations
Two CHR Top 40 Stations

How about Two Classic Hits stations? Since we seem to have two of every format on Commercial FM, except for Tejano. Why simulcast K-BUC on 93.3 when you could flip to Classic Hits/Oldies and go after KONO which has bigger numbers and revenue than KKYX? If Clear Channel is going Classic Country why not also go Classic Hits? I will be listening to KKYX in protest ;D But I am glad that KKYX finally returned on FM (it disappeared in 1993 and I didn't care for the Armadillo-KDIL)

All Clear Channel has to gain by doing this is getting Cox to move their Classic Country KKYX to 106.7 and throw the X 106.7 Classic Rock Format to 104.9 I think it is a dumb move on Clear Channel.

Seems that CC is too focused on slamming Cox to notice. LOL

"More Music than KZEP, San Antonio's New Home for Classic Rock, X 104.9" followed by "KKYX is back on 106.7 and as always on AM 680 Country Gold." :)

Clear Channel is probably using K-Buc as a flanker for KJ-97 to get the older demos who've left KJ. As for why not also go classic hits, Clear Channel's pretty well tapped out on facilities. They don't have much to change. If they were to do classic hits on 92.5 and 93.3, their generic classic hits/oldies format wouldn't even make a dent in KONO, and they know it.

I don't see that happening, and I don't think Clear Channel does either. That's probably why they're doing it. They think getting 104.9 to go off-the-air will relegate KKYX back to AM only. They're probably right, too. The classic country audience is too old to generate the revenue Cox needs for a 100 kw stick.

Truth is, Clear Channel's argument that Cox filed complaints against HCB to get 104.9 at an artificially depressed price is garbage. They probably know it and are just making that complaint to give Cox a bigger headache. 93.7 just went for $150,000. Granted, 104.9 covers more people from Datapoint than 93.7 does from its location, but it wouldn't have been able to operate at Datapoint so easily without Cox having bought it. So, $250,000 for a translator that was located by 93.7 when they began negotiating for it isn't a depressed price at all. The other arguments raised in Clear Channel's protest may have more merit, however. The FCC will have to figure that part out.

Considering CC carries all the Cox stations on it's iHeart app, how much hate could there really be? It seems like that gives them a financial tie.

KBUC 93.3 is silent right now from the Airport area, I can receive 104.9 K289EU KKYX clear. But when I go to the Alamo Heights area Broadway and Arcadia, I have trouble picking up 104.9. Yesterday I could pick up 93.3 loud and with buzzing in the right channel. Maybe they are fixing the audio problems on 93.3?

93.3 worked Tuesday and Wednesday from Downtown to the Airport, with no signal issues (with the humming in the audio)

Yeah I heard the buzz/hum also. Not sure how they are feeding it but they could definitely work on the audio. K289BN 105.7 has some really good clean and loud audio. Maybe it's their processing but for a translator it sounds great!

It was back up around the 5:00 hour. Must have been silent for a quick spell. But the audio problem is still there. I think the problem is with 93.3 not the parent station. I can't receive the parent station 92.5 unless I am listening to it on a car stereo. I heard Elvis "Cold Kentucky Rain" on 92.5 which the last time I heard that song was on KXBT 98.9's last day in Austin. Followed by Willie Nelson as the MegaBus was heading downtown from N Alamo before the driver turned left onto Broadway on Tuesday. Couldn't pick up 92.5 there, either.

As for 93.3, they took all the bass out of their equalizer it seems like. I've always noticed it on the air when I've tuned in. I liked it better with the bass. It sounds noticeably different than 92.5 now.

Musically KKYX seems to play the older classics than KBuc. KKYX plays stuff from the 60's and 70's (Willie Nelson, Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, etc) while KBuc plays some of the more recent country from the 80's and 90's (Older George Strait, Allan Jackson, Alabama, etc).
Personally I like KKYX a little better, seems a little more classic. Also KKYX does play a few of the newer songs as well, so yeah.

I've always liked KKYX is small spurts, simply because all classic all the time bores me so it'll be interesting to watch the ratings, especially now that both are on FM. With a focus on the 60's and 70's, KKYX is playing music that's close to 40-50 years old and - what's really sad, it's music I remember cueing up and playing, when it was new , KBUC is working with music that's only 20-30 years old and IMHO sounds a bit more like what's coming out of Nashville today, so I wonder if a listener wants classic and they're in the 35-49 demo will they gravitate towards the 'more recent' music on KBUC? Which one will find the most traction with today's listening audience?
